We all want to be respected and our dear and loving Royal Highness is no exception. Can you imagine living through years of obscurity? For years Gyanendra Shah must've been at bars, drunk, telling the bartender, ?Yeah I'm Gyanendra Shah, Birendra's brother. Now gimme another drink?. Or telling the ladies, ?You know I was king once, I was a king when I was like 3 years old. You think I'm cool?? (Which comes first by the way, ? or ?). Anyway gone are the days of Gyanendra Shah The Businessman. Gyanendra Shah, he was a king once, wasn't he? Gyanendra Shah, isn't he the father of that guy whose name keeps coming up in the papers? Now its His Royal Highness King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. He is back and he demands respect and he has a plan. The plan has a name, RCCC.
What amazes me most is that in the 21st century, His Highness still thinks that creating a closed tribunal and persecuting people is going to earn him respect! He could've ordered the CIAA (Committee for Investigation of Abuse of Authority) to bring charges against all those involved and tried them at the Supreme Court. That would've earned him respect. There are countless other people and countless other cases of corruption to investigate. Instead he formed a tribunal which disregards evidence, doesn't make public its procedures, investigation and reports and ?recommends? jail terms and punishments based on . . . . I don't know, no one does.
There may be many reasons why ?His Highness? did not ask CIAA to file charges at the supreme court. Perhaps he knew that ADB would say ?Hey, I have all my money, nobody has stolen from me?. Maybe he knew that the supreme court judges would say ?We need evidence, from both sides. We are not going to judge a case in a particular way cause you said so (wished so?)?. Or maybe he was afraid that CIAA would say to him, ?Your Highness, we already filed corruption charges against Senate Shrestha and Dan Bdr. Shahi, two of your ministers, lets settle those ones first?.
I am sure His Highness had his reasons. Unfortunately, the children of lesser gods in Nepal, their not-so high-nesses are a bit . .screwed. Now you can be picked up off the streets and jailed. When your parents and uncles and aunts and brothers and sisters go ask them why you were put in jail, the answer will be simple. ?Corruption. Thats why. And NO we do not have to show you any proof cause we are the RCCC goddammit?. Now our fathers mothers, uncles, aunts brothers and sisters can be taken from our houses and shot dead. When we go and ask them why, they will say ?Terrorism. Thats why. And NO we don't have to . . . . goddammit?, you get the idea. Oh by the way, if you have evidence proving otherwise, keep it at home cause the RCCC also has the authority to disregard any evidence that proves them wrong.
Not to worry though. Our political leaders are on the case. Every day they are making statements against the RCCC. I for one am sure that soon, Gyanendra Shah will get so bored of these leaders that he will dissolve the RCCC just to shut them up. Though he might secretly be hoping that they die of old age first.
Until that day, we can all sleep better knowing that the RCCC is watching over us and protecting us from corrupt individuals. Nobody will disturb your sleep as long as RCCC exists. Unless it is RCCC knocking on your door.
