Do you know any bad or good things on sony cybershot T9 (6MP)digicam. It looks so amazingly beautiful despite lacking an optical viewfinder. If you have one and aware of any drawbacks, plizz post ur comments.

T9 also features "Anti-shake" image stablization feature. This "anti shake" feature was first introduced by Konica-Minolta in its MAXXUM 7D digital SLR camera. Now Konica-Minolta has sold its camera making operation to Sony Corporation therefore it is well logical to say that Sony migrated this "anti shake" feature of MAXXUM 7D DSLR into Sony's Cybershot T9 Point-n-Shoot Camera. Getting higer ISO sensitivity and "Anti-shake" image stablization feature at the same time like getting not only one advantage but getting two advantages at the same time. Higer ISO sensitivity means getting brighter pictures than its rivals(with ISO 400) and Image Stablization features means sharper pictures (less motion blurrs). I dont use point-n-shoot camera so I can overcome these ISO sensitivity and image stablization issues by using my DSLR(and film SLR) in a manual mode.

Given the choice, I would go for FX9, memory stick is too x and I don't like a camera which is easy to slip off ( drop). Wow !! You must be loaded, you own a DSLR cmaera. So do you happen to be a pro or just got started into photography ?

In digital cameras "digital artifacts" or "noise" is similar to "film grain" on film. The down side of using higher ISO is that higer ISO tends to show "noise". The noise becomes an issue when the picture is enlarged. Digital camers try to overcome this issue of "noise" by applying "noise suppressing" filter, therfore when a ditigal camera detects higer ISO the "noise supressing" filter kicks in. The downside of "noise supressing" filter is that it tends to chip out sharpness out of the picture (to hide the noise) therefore you get rid of the "noise" at the cost of sharpness. Digital SLRs comes with an option to turn on and off the noise suppressing filter. I have no idea if point-n-shoot camers offer this option.

i_nepali I just bought my DSLR (Nikon D70s) yet I still love to shoot with film as well (Nikon F80). I can interchange lenses between these two cameras. There are areas where digital does better than film and there are areas where film does a lot better than digital so I use whichever is appropriate. No pro-photographer in the world will claim that expensive equipments will ensure you of great looking pics because photography is not about expensive equipments, therfore expensive expensive equipments can ensure great convenience not great photographs. For those who might be interested to do photography more seriously. I'll never suggest them to go straight to digital because they'll miss out a lot.

i_nepali if you only shoot at ISO 64 and ISO 100 then you are limited only to daylight shooting I guess or you use dedicated speedlight(flash) for low light shots or something ?

Ohh sure...I can borrow my Nikon 50mm F 1.8 lens...it's been unused for more than a year, but it's a fast lens to do photography in low light settings.

This camera is one of the best I have tested in the last 6 years. As an adjunct faculty member at FAU a south Florida +25,000 student university, teaching "Principles of Digital Photography" and authored/published a book with the same name, with Pearson Education, Inc., 2003, I have tested hundreds digital cameras that have been offered to the public in recent years, and this one is truly unbelievable. One must understand that all cameras cannot do all things regardless of price and size. Digital SLRs, like Canon's 1DsMk2, which I proudly own and consider the very best digital SLR on planet Earth, can execute most imaging tasks beautifully; however you cannot place it in your pocket, does not have built-in flash, and cannot make a video!! Comparing the image quality and color to other similarly priced cameras, both seem better than on previous SONY "T" series units (the T1, T11, T3, T33, T5, T7) in their 6-step progression to the T9. The brightness on the LCD panel is also better and has two brightness levels; The LCD also seems to have a protective covering on its surface. The flash also seems a bit stronger, and the imager noise is significantly lower. Understand that the tiny built-in flash is effective for groups of 3-6 people placed within 8' or less of the camera, period; any further, other than fill-in flash and the results will be less disappointing than in prior versions. It is hard to imagine than so much technology can be contained within this truly thin package. This version has an OPTICAL IMAGE STABILIZER that really works in both Still image and Movie Modes. The large and bright LCD panel is great for sharing images with friends after the picture is taken; a suggestion for SONY is that the automated viewing (post image) is too short, internally set to about 2 seconds, and not adjustable; this should be an adjustable feature, which can be corrected by a simple SONY "firmware" upgrade. Most critics do not make mention of the Software; Be it known SONY has one of the best (included) software packages available; Install the software one time; then plug in the camera into an available USB post, turn on the camera, and in 5,4,3,2,1 seconds the images and movies, begin their migration into a unique folder in the hard-drive, in a subdirectory in "My Pictures" with today's date as the folder name. Could not be a simpler process. If you want to see some T9 sample images you can go to http://www.416-1100.com/Test%20Images%20-%20Digital%20Equipment%20Testing/73537. Images will be added periodically so check back often; and while you're there look around at other images posted at your pleasure.

I find LCD panels of all digital cameras to be misleading or are at least inaccurate at default setting when it comes to actual brightness of pics. If people boost the brightness of LCD panel of their cameras I guess they'll get even more frustrated to see that the actual pics (after downloading to their computers) were not as bright as what they saw on LCD panels of their camera. After getting these frustrating results I have reduced the brightness of LCD panel of my camera by 1 EV(Exposure Value) instead of boosting the brightness of LCD panel. Now, what I see on LCD panel of my camera is what I actually get. Therefore if I get underexposed pics, it shows more accurately right away on the LCD panel of my camera so I can make necessary changes and shoot again to get brighter pics.
