Breaking news from Nepalnews.com

His Majesty King Gyanendra is to address the nation at 9 a. m. on Wednesday (Feb. 1), an official announcement said.

The state-run Nepal Television (NTV) quoted the press secretariat to HM the King as saying that the monarch would address the nation tomorrow morning.

The proclamation will be aired over the NTV at 9:00 in the morning, the state-run TV said.

No details were provided.

His Majesty is addressing the nation upon the completion of the first year of his direct rule.

There are reports of hundreds of arrests across the country today as the opposition parties and rights groups plan to observe Wednesday as a “Black Day.”

Through a royal proclamation in the morning of February 1, last year, King Gyanendra had dismissed a coalition government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, jailed hundreds of activists across the country, state of emergency was declared and harsh press censorship was introduced.

Though the state of emergency was lifted after three months, critics say civil liberties and press freedom are still curtailed.

Authorities don’t agree. They say Nepali media is one of the freest in the world and certain restrictions on the civil liberties are only temporary in nature "to return towards a democratic process including civic polls."

Municipal polls are scheduled to take place on February 8, this year. nepalnews.com by Jan 31 06

What else is left behind to proclaim?

I guess it one of either two things or both
-> Imitation of state of union address US presidents give (I achieved this in last, I will do this next year ... blah blah blah)

-> I am further tightening the screw in democracy's a$$ and here is my plan

Let us see what it turns out to be....

This might be some of the topic he will address

**Security***
After my last years take over Nepal has become most secure place in earth. I roamed around all western Nepal with just 10 body guards. I interacted with the common people (though throughly screened up their a$$ before they come near me)
(psst psst I do not have guts to go to eastern nepal even with my entire army )

Our army is the most humane army we do not form human pyramid or use hoods. We just catch them hide them and after killing throw them in jungle humanly. Else send a drunk soilder and shoot them

***Economy***

Yes economy of nepal is in highest peak. I just went on luxury round the world trip. Bought 5 new cars. My psycho son gets new ATV and Harley.

** Democracy **
See around I have given so much democracy in sajha. Netas can scold me, I do nothing to them. Instead I give them more protection by having them arrested or putting them in house arrest

** Future plan **
Ban all parties
Buy 5 new car
Go for Europe tour
Send my son Parash to NIIT, ask him to form a cracker group with crack heads so that they can crack democratic website.
Ban all the media only allow NTV, Radio Nepal and royalpalace.com.np website (psst psst some porn websites too, I need it for night...)

Lastly, pasupati nathle hami sabai nepali ko rakshya garun, timiharu ko gare pani na gare pani mero ra mero paribar ko chahi garun. Jai Sambhu.... dum maro dum...

Security bodies ordered to arrest protestors

High-level sources said that a meeting of the central Security Council was held today morning to discuss the country’s current security situation. The meeting has reportedly directed security bodies to “arrest those who take out protest rallies tomorrow.”

--- Is this valid for protest outside Nepal too?

Govt to provide Rs 4.5 million to Singh

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, Jan 31 - The government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 4.5 million to Bharat Keshar Singh, the chairman of World Hindu Federation (WHF).

This is the first time that the government has sanctioned such a heavy amount of assistance to any individual, said a government source.

The royal government had already granted an assistance of 1.2 million rupees to Singh earlier, immediately after the King’s take over on Feb 1 last year.

Singh actually had demanded 9 million rupees from the government, to celebrate the silver anniversary, of the WHF, and the cabinet had decided to provide the assistance to Singh on the basis of general request on a plain paper, said the source.

The cabinet has also decided to provide 5 million rupees to the Ministry of Communication and Information.

The cabinet has ordered the Ministry of Finance to allocate Rs 17.5 million to implement the projects assured by the King to the people during his recent visit to the eastern region.

The government is also said to be mulling over establishing a “Students trust” to provide financial assistance and loans to pro-government students. (hb)
