hey folks, help out one of my old fren. My friend who is in New York entered in F2 visa. Her visa is expired re. Her husband is in a trainging called OPT trainging which she says in F1 status which is expiring on January of 2007. She was asking me if she requires to adjust her F-2 status and get any adjustment paper from Immigration in order to remain continue in F-2 Status. Also she was wondering what type of field in graduate study would have great potential to get job like in account, ecnomics, engineering (exclude medical fields) . Sallah kehi bhaye dinu hola.

F2 is dependent on F1. so if F1 expires so does F2.

No, renewal of F2, a dependent visa for F1 is not required to renew as long as F1 still holds the valid status. Status is considered valid while the person is taking full time courses and also is valid when the person goes on OPT to seek for an active employment after graduation. If the person is unable to find a job within the period of OPT, then he/she must leave the country within 60 days after its expire to be considered in status. Hope this helps.
