Nothing wrong with working as a convenience store clerk. Labor has its own inherent dignity.
My condolences to the family of deceased. No matter who the victim is, the fact that this crime occured at all, that too to a fellow Nepali, is a reason for sadness.
On a slightly different note - and I apologize in advance for any unintended irreverence that might be perceived - given the fact that most of the folks who work at Indian or Pakistani owned convenience stores are doing so illegally, it is a sad commentary that that person was someone who had been in the revered position of MP in Nepal at one time.
Similarly, I know of a "bhootpurva" mayor of one of the East Nepal towns who is now residing in VA as an illegal immigrant.
Once, when I was having a brunch at a restaurant in Somerville, MA, an indian waiter came by and asked me if I am Nepali. Upon hearing that I am, he said with a wide smile that one of his fellow waiters is also a Nepali and used to be a minister back in Nepal.
Can you imagine Senator Kennedy going to Nepal and working as "khali sishi purano kagaz"?
But then, again, there is no shame in working - be it white or blue collar job.
