Unless Bangkok authorities have recently changed the laws, you dont need transit visa ( as long as you don't try to pass the immigration line).

I had a transit in Bangkok in Jan.. I had 7 hrs Transit .. I did not require a visa.
I think there is a limitation of hours. However, if you did need visa, your travel agent should have updated you on that...

plus if you do need the visa.. they do have visa at the gate thing where u can pay $20 for the visa..

Good Luck!

Friends,
Be careful! If you are travelling via BKK and have more than 12 hrs transit, you need a transit visa to pass through. They seldom ask you for transit visa, but if you are not lucky enough you may fall in trouble. I had a trouble last time when I had had a 16hrs transit at BKK airport (June 2006).

the rule is if u have 12 hours plus in BKK transit u need a visa, and u will need to goto the Thai embassy since Nepali passport cant get u a visa in the airport...

i had 13 hour transit in BKK and i didnt need a visa..but it gave me some tension....
the travel agents will all tell u , u need visa for more than 12 hours in bangkok.

BUT u have 4 hour transit.. u have nothig to worry about... just go relax..and catch ur next flight..

BTW... make sure you do not have ANY valuable or ELECTRONICS checked in the baggage...
People @ BKK airport are theives. (I was a victim myself )
I flew out from LA .. and I had transit @ BKK.. I am sure it was in BKK where they opened my bag and stole my stuff...

I lost almost $1000 worth of gift items...(I was stupid. thought it was like travelling within US so i packed few watches and colonge and perfumes etc)...

When I complained to the Airline.. I was offered $20 compensation... I declcined and left the office with rage!..

Just recently a friend of mine flew from BKK to KTM. he had taken digital cam and a cell phone as hand carry however, as he slept through the flight.. his phone and digital camera was stolen on the plane...

I just wanted to share this with you guys...

Damn.. must be our own people who stole your friend's valuables.. I myself never had any trouble with lugguage at BKK. However, there immigration is a bit harsh when it comes to us Green passport holders. I had to go through some serious screening when I was coming back to the US via bangkok. They scanned through my greencard like 100 times to see if it was fake. They asked me all kinds of questions like what I do and where I live in the US. It's humiliating when you are singled out infront of hundreds of other travellers.

TBlazing..
my friend was travelling alone...
btw.. its not new.. when i went to the airline with my issue.... they mentioned that they have similar case every day.. and they said they have not been able to get any of those stolen items back yet...

So i know things being stolen form BKK is not new...

When I travelled back to US.. I did not have any problem... I guess It depends on the officer who checks one in. If he/she suspects, they tend to give people a very hard time..

hehehe guys, When i was coming from KTM to LA, I lost my camcorder and all video clips cassettes. Thought its hard to say, i think it was stolen in BKK. Never put related items together, try to put them seperately so u can at least save something.
