Go and report to the police and embassy ASAP.

your biggest problem will be to prove that you have lost your passport, as a lot of people say that just to get a new passport so that their previous rejections of visas dont show up.

but i'm pretty sure, you'll have to go the the consulate in DC to get your new passport.

I've heard that u'll need to report it to the police first... then send the police report to Nepalese Embassy in DC to get another one.... I don't know if u need to go their personally or not.... maybe u've a photocopy of ur original passport u can send them as a proof.

call the embassy and ask them what you should do inorder to get a new passport

I had come crossed the same problem while back. First of all call the Nepalese Embassy in Washington, D.C. asap . . . good luck . . . people working in the visa section are not courteous and may give you a hard time. Inform your local police and get the report from them that your passport has been lost. A time frame for getting another passport depends solely on your verbal communication skill with the Nepalese Embassy. If you can talk your way thru and convince them that your passport has indeed been lost you will get another passport.

if you have a nepali nagrikta card, there should be your passport number stamped on your nagrikta. take a look at that. If u have that, go to the nearest embassy where you are at and apply for a new passport. This should solve ur problem. or else...
