DV victims want compensation from US

American Diversity Visa Victim Association (ADVVA) has demanded that the US Embassy in Nepal should provide compensation for the expenses that the people had to bear while undergoing various process to get the Diversity Visa (DV).
In their five-point demands put forward to the government, they have demanded for prior information services regarding the DV process. They have also requested the US Embassy not to charge any fee if they are not given visas.
“We demand the Embassy not to make DV lottery winners an internal squatter in the name of
DV lottery by victimising them economically, socially and mentally,” said Sita Bastakoti, a member of the ADVVA. Members of the ADVVA are on relay hunger strike before the US Embassy till January 24. They would also submit a memorandum to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala as part of their protest programmes. They are schedule to go for fast unto death if their demands are not fulfilled by January 24.

I agree that the DV winners should not have to pay for visa. How can it be a lottery if the recipients end up losing money on the visa and not able to go to the US?

The diversity visa agency in the US should keep in mind that in most countries it's difficult to rack up the money for the visa, and it should be waived unless they have already received the confimation of the final green card.

There is one proverb:

Only the guys who risks will drink champagne.
So wanna get green card then you better risk.

Bull shit! Why the hell those people are crying for? Don't' you buy lottery ticket to play lotto? If you loose, you loose. But if you win then you are millionnaire.Same theory applies here. Don't they know the meaning of 'lottery'? If not, stay away from 'lottery'. Because of those morons, the US government might stop DV program for Nepal. The American Embassy in Kathmandu clearly precautioned beforehand to everybody not to be fooled by thugs. So, why are they crying?

Its the intension of the country. The country like Japan waive the visa application fee if you get the visa.

Copycat, what are you talking about? I have received Japanese visa several times but never got my visa fee waived. Plus, lottery does not give you money back if you loose. This is whole idea about 'lottery'. Hope you understand.
