Hi, What would be the steps to apply for H1B without a lawyer. I really don't think that to fill few forms and mail them to USCIS one needs a lawyer with over thousand dollars. I am looking experienced suggestion. If not, can anyone suggest any lawyer who would do it for less price? Location: Wichita,KS.

You do not need a lawyer to file H1-B. All they will do is ask you questions and fill out the form for you. I would suggest not spending any money on a lawyer to file H1-B.

So matribhumi, is it the simple two step process? 1. your company applies for LCA with form ETA-9035 2. you apply for H1B with form I-129 Just trying to be 100% sure that nothing is left to be done as per the regulation to get into trouble later. Thanks for sharing the information.

Yes. Infact, the LCA can also be filed online (http://www.lca.doleta.gov). So your company gets the prevailing wage approved and files the I-129 to USCIS for you. When I said you can fill the application, I didn't mean you can "File" the application. As you probably noticed in the application, they don't even require your signature. The company sponsoring you is responsible for the process but you do not need a lawyer to fill out a simple application. Goodluck -M

Thanks M this answers a lot of questions. Ya I understand, company can file ETA online. When it is approved, then I can file I-129 with USCIS. I dont think I need a lawyer, just to fill and submit two forms.
