Security condition is worsening extremely in all major cities of Nepal particularly in Kathmandu valley: Urgent news to share you. Less than 2 weeks ago, Mr. Rajesh Bajracharya (who is currently in USA)'s mom was badly attacked and their home was invaded by armed looters. They not only looted and ransacked their house but also brutally attacked an old aged women. Another bad incident happened to our comunity of dear Narayan Tamrakar (Executive member of NOA, Newa Organization of America, Los Angeles Chapter) 's 84 years old father was brutally beaten last night by criminals ; he is hospitalized and is in serious condition. Incident: Last night at 1am at Chasukhel( near sukul dhoka)heart of Bhaktapurour, February 1 , 2007 that 5 armed men broke main entrace door and entered into home and took control 4 house members then brutally beaten 84 years old father RamTamrakar with Khukuri. They snatched safe key from him then ranasacked all the safe boxes and robbed anyhthing of value in the family jewelry and ornaments. While it was happenening his sister in law, who was in different room, was able to make phone call to police but they did not arrive at the site for more than 1 hour. The police could have come there in less than 3 minutes because the district police office is very near from there. If police would have arrived at time these looters would be captured for sure. These growing criminal activities and sad incidents in our motherland show that there is direct link between robbers, police and probably corrupted leaders as well. Currently, 84 years father is seriously hospitalize at Noris Hospital in Kathmandu. He is well known Social worker for long time in Bhaktapur. He has put lots of good impact and inspiration in society. Such a things to happen at his age is shameful to the government and our society. Now we must aware and wake up to stop Continious and series of home invasion, Kids being kidnapped and blackmailed, Our grandpa and grandma being victimized, Our hard-saved wealth being looted.. Few weeks ago Prof. Fanindra Neupane's home was invaded in the same way. He is also in his late 60s and his sons are in abroad. Few of these cases are known to us and there must be a lot other cases which did not errupt up to the news media. Most of these cases are happening to the old-age parents of nepalese diaspora who are struggling in foreign land. (bear with typo et al., posted here in hurry, main information source is an email from one of the victim)

Chana tarkari, I totally agree with you and these things are going around in chitwan (Close by where Dr Pharendra was a faculty) as well. But the locals in that area started gasti at night in group in rotation and its getting better. I hope thse Maobadi will let the police post to be re-established again so these things will get better.

Dude, I heard that Former Napal Police Chief Mr. Motilal Bohara was also brutallt attcked by an identified criminal group and he has been hospitalized. There is also news about malaysia based one under world group demanded 4 carore from a nepalese manpower agency and they fired gun on him for his refusal to pay the amount. It seems that Nepal is being more worst regarding personal security and peace. YoNepali

Channa tarkari, I am surprised that this is the worse news for you. What might be happening in Nepal is the Class warfare but people on the upper class have been so brain washed that they don't know their cause anymore and have run out of the country and lost. By the way all these people hiding cash in their home ; that;s funny to me; Must be the illegal money. Peace

Duke1, I think it is better to put off your lecture on classwar stuffs anymore. If it is classwar, they won't come to robb in dark night carrying expensive lethal weapon; they don't just loot property and ran away; they don't chose old-age parents and lonely grandpas of nepali diaspora; they don't attack senior social workers and respect earned people like Mr. Tamrakar and Prof. Neupane; they don't target middle class people. (Except few like Motila bohara, most of the victims are middle class ordinary people, they are not UPPER CLASS people as you think or understand). You wrote so nonsense that I even hate to think of you. Do you mean all 2 million nepalese who are out of country right now are run-out upper class people? Do you mean those looted wealth are all illegal money hidden in house? You must have carried a very polluted communist brain setup, such that you have courage to say that all criminal activity going on in Nepal is classwar, because you do not have sense to feel the pain of a helpless victim. Will you be able to go and tell your philosophy of classwar to your own parents the next they were looted. At that moment you would understand , what is worse and what is not.

I went to Nepal in winter break and found Nepal a chaotic world. There is no security at all. Anybody can do anything to you. Police are there just to show. And there is hours of load shedding. Some really scary people were asking me that when did i came back from US and i barely know them.I think the country is in the situation of anarchy. If this situation is not solved on time, Nepal and Nepalese will suffer a lot.

Last year, one of my friend visited Nepal. His house is in Baneshwor. When he was returning from friends place, it was around 11 pm, few guys surrounded him and ask what he had. He showed whatever he had (it was 2000 Rs.) and gave....he was so thankful that he was saved. This year it is at peak...like killing in Iraq..looting is common in Kathmandu..Even police person was looted in bus and badly beaten by group of PickPocks last week. Low education, high ambition (of life style), no security, no law, no trust between each other.....may be are few among many reasons.. Looting is so easy money...and you also know people respect Gundas (whoever can raise finger to Chakre, Deepak Manage, R. Gorkhali.....and so on!!). These are bigs...Small Chors are so strongly motivated that even if police catches them, beats them and law sends them for 2 year or less prison (I think there is no long prisonment for looting) they dont find any problem..They can so easily earn....within one hour in the range of lakhs...(you know hos dificult it is to earn 100 Dollar, we have to work whole day)...they are ready to bear all torture.... I just can imagine how good was Nepal before around 20 years....people could stay anywhere in the night, walk with money and valuables even in the night...and now....it is going always worsening but not improving.... DAMN IT....
