Guys!!! need some perspective on a small problem that I have. Suppose my OPT is about to expire on May 20, 2007 and my H1 is effective Jan 25,2007. Does my paycheck need to run on H1 even though I have 4 months OPT remaining or is it okay to continue being paid on OPT till it expires. Would really appreciate valuable suggestions!!!!!!!!

When you are in OPT,you are in F1 Status. You will no longer be in F1 status once you are in H1.In your case, your paycheck need to run as H1 from Jan 25,2007.You will not be considered in F1 status since then.

You can continue being paid in OPT if ur H1 has not started But if the effective date is Jan then u have to be in H1 payroll. That means more tax cuts ..by almost 500$ for medicare and SSN taxes. :)
