For what it's worth Kumar Basnet's contribution to Nepali Lok Geet is paramount. At one point of time, he was perhaps the only universally accepted Lok Geet samrat who brought songs and tunes of villages to Kathmandu.

Having said that, he is or was a very fervent royalist and feudalisticly loyal servant of monarchy. Nothing wrong with that. He, like any other Nepali, has that right. Plus, how else would he be able to eek out a living, let alone be able to send two sons to the US for higher education, without some hefty royal patronage.

So it is surprising to find out that he has turned "Loktantrik", but again, nothing wrong with that. He, like any other Nepali, has the right to change his mind.

I agree with Ritan on certain points. Being the royalist he got that opportunity to record and broadcast his songs in radio Nepal. Ho did not support palace they could not survived in radio Nepal like Ramesh, Ryan, Manjul and others.
I agree and it’s more than nice to turn loktantrik himself. My point is he reached in that level to put foundation stone for statue of anti monarch martiers??

I'm strongly against rajtantra but not against those who support rajtantra. what if kumar basnyat is rajabadi??? does that mean he doesnt have any contribution in nepali folk music?

Its true. He has a contribution.
We always forget to respect people by their expertise, rather we believe in one's political belief or association. This is our first hand analysis and, of course weakness.
If we used to do so, then monkeys (people without quality) will replace most of the experts of Nepal within few years.

Grow up, think beyond party.

Surely, who speaks or really works in favor of democracy will be respected in society in coming days.
