Same here contour. I have some very good white friends as well as black friends, and they all seem to like the fact that they know somebody from a place like Nepal which is unknown to most americans here (the land of everest dude bhanepachhi oh yeah yeah garchha saaleharu).

Its not about me thinking its a biggy, its just a matter of accepting both the defined and undefined norms of the society I live in. I know "racism" exists and that its a bad thing, and I'm not afraid to admit it, but not even recognizing whats around you is something that only fools would do. Thats like an ostrich sinking its head in the sand thinking that now its safe and no one can see it, but as a matter of fact its still susceptible to fall prey to other forces of nature.

Unlike, black and white people who came from different parts of the world; ironically, we discriminate against our own citizens based on their casts, professions, religions, social status, you name it. There are still strong disgusts against “achhut” in many parts of Nepal. When it comes to marriage, the discrimination becomes even more apparent.
