Ram Chandra Paudel is one of those politicians, who lakes real standing on an issues. The true example is how he put one leg with Deuba camp and another leg in Koirala camp. His role turned out to be crucial for NC’s split. We can come up with many such examples of his Lote Pote role.

Furthermore, surprisingly, we have seen many articles, which claim that Paudel is a “Royalist”. I was really socked! Some believe that that’s why Maoist booed Paudel in “Loktantra Diwas” in Basantapur.

royalist hun ki maobadi damn care

bottomline is they cannot betray people, and do corruption. they must work towards peace and development.

Few things I would like to add:

1) With In last six month there have been numerous news/speculation why Royal Commission did not take action against Ram Chandra Paudel. It is believed that Palace instructed the Royal commission not to take action against him – because he is a loyal royalist. Ram Chandra Paudel never refuted the allegation.
2) What bothers me the most is that Paudel has been a staunch (most vocal) supporter for postponing the CA election. Why? I have no idea. Certainly, it has helped Ganendra ET Al greatly.
3) Paudel declared his property after being a minister in 1990 once. That was the first and last time. This time also he did not bother to declare his property. What is he scare of if his earnings were legitimate?

My take about Paudel is that he is one of the “Dwad Charitra” politicians. I would not be surprised if he is a royal. Certainly postponing CA election, Paudel and his party has done big favor to the King.

RC Paudel has hardly ever been accused of corruption. He was put under house arrest or some sort during the Gyanendra Coup and he wrote quite a strong article (which I liked very much and so did a lot of other people) against the Royal movement. But he has not stood on this same ground all the time and thus this lote-pote (waffler) characteristics are visible.

I don't think RC Paudel has lot of chance to head the NC after Girija's demise, his leadership is always a suspect. Sushil Koirala, on the other hand has lots of similarities to Girija, that is, he is rigid and very protective of people under his wing.

Paduel did have opportunity after the demise of Shailaja, Tara Bhat and so on. But due to his inconsistencies (on various issues within the party), he is farther behind Sushil Koirala. I think even the NC and NC(D) reuinte, Deuba will always be the person that split the party and have difficulty holding everyone together. I think the core values of NC is kept by Sushil Koirala (he was the choice for DPM from Congress, but UML's play got Paudel the chance).
