I need advice from some Sajha legal experts. My company sponsored my H1B and now has agreed to sponsor my Green Card too. They always use this particular law firm in Boston www.mintz.com(they processed my H1B too). So I talked to the lawyer in late February and they explained the whole nine yards. The lawyer gave me timelines for the process. He said he would put up the ad in the papers in about 30-60 days and put it there for 30-60 days etc. But its been more than 2 months (almost 3 mons) but he hasn't sent anything my way or advertised the job. When I emailed him end of March he replied saying he was almost done. Than nothing till the end of april. I emailed him again and he said he was out and trying to catch up with things but mine was first on his list. But I still haven't heard from him. My question to you guys is what should I do in this situation? How do I convince my company to let me use my own lawyer? What do I need from my company (paper work) in the process? How much do lawyers usually charge? I have an MBA and the job does require an MBA. Please advice coz I feel this lawyer is taking me for a ride. Thanks

Biggy, I am in the similar situation. Moreover, I have already given some initial payment. Don't these lawyers just freak you out? Now I know why lawyers are the target of such hatred and ridicule. I ask a friend who was in a similar situation and he said - you constantly need to pester them. Sending emails once in a while just doesn't do the trick. Call him everyday, leave voice msgs and call again after an hour. It is really stressful but thats what you will have to do.
