It is admirable how many Nepalis I see working so hard to get this damn education. Gas stations, cafeteria, anything to pay tuition. More impressive than the phd's etc... is hearing about hard working young Nepalis making something out of their lives..

I worked at the gas stations, fast food restaurants, beer & wine and held many other low level jobs while I was in school. I worked at an Indian Restaurant for one day and quit it because I couldn’t stand the dhoti owner and never again worked for any dhoti. If I have gained anything from USA, my experiences in making burgers, pizzas, selling cigarettes and gas would definitely top the list. I feel fortunate in a sense that I would have never experienced what it felt like to work and make my living if I had never come down here. There was not even a question of regret. I always knew that all those hard work were for the time being, and if things hadn’t worked out, I always had an option to go back to Nepal.
