Nepal stuns Oman with 105 runs victory at ACC

KATHMANDU, July 12 – Nepal boys launched their Asian Cricket Championship Trophy campaign with a big bang in Singapore on Friday by beating Oman with 105 runs. Spinners in Nepal's strong bowling line-up have been credited for turning victory on their side.
According to a details made available by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Nepal first opted to bat after winning the toss and completed their inning by scoring a total 153 runs for nine. Later, Nepalis bowlers came to the rescue by packing up Oman within 35.3 overs with a meager score of 48 runs.
Nepalis spinners Shakti Gauchan, Sanjam Regmi and Mehboob Alam took three wickets each from the Oman side. The only Oman batsmen who scored a double figure on the scoreboard were J. Redrar and M. Akbar who scored 12 and 11 runs respectively.
Earlier, despite a dismal start by the Nepalis batsmen in the starting line-up, Shakti Gauchan scored 34, Paras Luniya 28, Dipendra Chaudhary 21, and Sanjam Regmi 15. Paresh Lohani was out for a duck.
Nepali all rounder Shakti Gauchan has been awarded the man of the match. (sjs)
