Has anyone tried the Magic Jack (voip service)? 19.99 for a years, I heard that you can use it in nepal. once you buy here, they give you US no. so you can send it in nepal and call that no from here. it works like local call. sounds like too good to be true.

I recently visit to Nepal. I was very surprised by the internet phone commonly known as E-Phone in Nepal.
You can make call from nepal to US for Rs. 2/min from any cyber or communcation place which offer Ephone service.
after some research i bought a VOIP device from vonage and connect it on my router ( u must have cable internet dialup aint work and extra telephone set)
now my parents can call me from nepal and pay only Rs. 0.64/min which is obviously cheaper that making local call in ktm.
if you need more information about how to setup E-phone in your house in nepal feel free to drop me email on adhikaribipin@hotmail.com
take care

20 $ for the device and 19.99 a month that's what I heard. And if you sign up for 5 years I think it's 49.99.

Hello Darkside: Rather than having to reply each inquirer by email, why don;t you write up briefly how you did it here in sajha thread.. this will benefit all of us. Did you say that ppl in Nepal should have router and cable internet at home? I got confused. Thanks.

If you are in nepal . i can give u some contact where you can go and that guy can help you to setup one in your house. for this thing to work you will need the following 1. cable internet 2. router (dlink which is cheaper) 3.Device New linksys VOIP PAP2 Phone vonage Adapter NA unlocked) search on ebay 4. telephone set 5.you have to open Dollar account(min $10) with wlink or Hons in nepal.they will give you username and password for sastocall.com you can put more money anytime you want. it is basically internet phone.it is not only cheaper to USA but works with most of the country.
This is the same thing that all the cyber and communication are using it.
if u are intrested let me know. I will be glad to share more information

Its from Nepal......(not to Nepal). You must have a good net connection there and charge Yahoo messanger and can make a call from computer to any cellphone or landline in US, UK Aus etc...Most countries are either 1 - 2 cents....
It charges 29c if you have to call Nepal.
