Hey guys,
I have a Driving Licence from Oklahoma which gonna be expire on 3,July 2008. Currenty i am in Texas and trying to get renew DL from TX. but my problem is, i got speeding ticket couple of weeks back and i have a court date on 3 july same as my DL expire Date. Beside that i gave defensive driving test last week and ordered my driving record too.
I am trying to renew BL by today or tommo. If i get it before court date, does it gonna affect on my current court case? or shall i wait till 3 july and renew my DL on 3rd.
and other question is, if i renew my DL from TX then what happens to my past driving records?? will be continue same record with diff. DL or will start new record?
Thanks

Do you have to appear before the judge?? If not just pay the ticket and don't have to appear in court. driving record does remain no matter which state you move in. But you should renew your DL before it expires. To get TX DL you have to have your vehicle under TX registration(if you have not done it). Just go to the DMV and tell them you don't have a car in TX yet. Change your DL as soon as possible and then if you want you can go to the court if that is necessary. Good luck!! I_A_N

Thanks for ur valuable suggestion I_A_N jee,
Yes i do have to appear on court. i need to show my proof of insurance which i was unable to show during pulled over. on the top of that it was 25 over ( 80 on 55) on construction zone . so the total ticket due is $359(2 tickes, speeding + insurance).
since i have my insurance copy and did defensive driving test, will that helps to reduce my ticket amount???
and one more question: do i need to change my OK tag n title to TX right a way??
Thanks

rawbee,
Trust me, i had the same problem last month. actually i got the ticket of speeding and i hadn't change my address on my DL and that was in construction zone. the problem was the court date was the same date as my class start on august. So i went to the city hall and talk to them. they told me You can appear anytime from tomorrow till the court date. So i went the next day. I already changed the address so they waived my address ticket but had to pay the speeding. So i paid and everything is fine. And about the rag information i dont have much idea on that.
Hope that works. All the best.
