I think having only a face is not enuff to be a cab driver, u need brains too. I cant imagine myself driving passengers in New york or London cities, memorizing each and every cities names, rushing them to the destination via shortest route without using a street map. May be coz i dont have great sense of direction.

McLoving! don't you think you also need a good pair of hands to go with the face to be able to drive? I dunno how the driving conditions in Dallas are. But Tina "is true" about driving hazards in mega cities. It requires knowing whereabouts of destinations and routes, rush-hour detours, sense of timing, ability to fathom who is a good-tipping passenger to a life threatening robber and so forth. A college boy should not find it hard though. Hey where are all the former drivers? Deep-sea diving in the Caribbean out of their ummm...modest yachts? Give this fellow some advice.

I was considering to Drive a Cab before. And Oh yeah..driving cab needs good knowledge of the direct shortest routes, hotels, points of Interest etc. Nepali people are driving cab here in Chicago and making 500-600$/wk. But, you have to work @ least 12 hrs just to come up with lease and gas. And, if you work more rest is yours.
And Remember, Cab-Driving is the second most dangerous occupation in US according to a recent research. Retail stores workers come in first place.
i dont know about other cities but here in Chicago, You just need your Drivers' License and go thru two weeks class @ a college. After you pass the class and City Exam you will be issued a Chauffers' Lisence. No Questions asked about Work Permit.
A lot of students drive cab juss because it makes money and you are on your boss. No more Dhoti's schedule and kichkich.
Good Luck brother!
