Amazing opening ceremony that made all others in the past looked mediocre. Personally, I thought it was definitely a statement made by China to the world (US particularly) what they are really about. London will have a hard time  in 2012 to match anything that China did on 08-08-08. It was definitely a day that made citizens of China proud. It was also cruel reminder to me to look back at the progress making in our own Nepal. Will there be a historic moment in my own country that I will ever be proud of in my lifetime? I guess not.

Best show in the history. The next host will have a hard time to live up to it. The magnitude of display was immense, they poured money like it was water. One important thing, the choreographer of the show was one of the greatest director from China, Zhang Yimou. Watch all his movie listing at the bottom of the page, you cannot go wrong. My favourite is "To Live" and "Raise The Red Lantern"

Since everything is made in China, it would have cost them less than what other countries would have spent for the same thing.

for CHINA 40 billion, other countries 80 billion

Eye popping, jaw dropping, maybe once in a lifetime event.  If you missed it, aaahhhh... hopefully you will get to watch the recording somewhere.

My friends, China has arrived!!!  And, boy, have they arrived with a bang.

Also, can't help feeling sorry for Brits.  London is hosting the next Olympics and I doubt they can outdo Chinese on opening ceremony.

Nepal Republic...

The clip you posted looks too gay. I've seen enough of those individual acrobat Circus De Soleil. You might be comparing your clip to the Olympic, it doesn't make sense.

One thing to note. INDIA has only won 3 medal in Olympic all throughout their history. Man! It tells how ETHNOCENTRIC they are. All they care about is cricket, a sport left my their British ruler, it's not even theirs. The whole world like to encourage Olympics, but Indians seems to care less. It shows their stands at the globle level; how open they are, and be concerned about sports where the whole world come together. Remember, Indians are MORE ethnocentric than Americans.
