Hi everybody,

I am one of his close friend, and we are trying to send his body back home to his parents, so I expect all the Nepalese overseas help us to do as much as we can. Let's prove the unity of Nepalese and fight against this terrible situation, coz nobody knows this might happen again and again which needs to be ceased as soon as possible.

Ashok, a cool guy and friendly is popular among a lot of Nepalese here. He was even appreciated by his customers at his work for his politeness and honesty. He was too much dedicated to music and used to sing a lot. His way of cracking jokes and immitating about the nepali politicians and other reknowned people was fabulous.

Even though he is not here with us, his memories will be always stricking our heart and he will be always known for his politeness, friendliness and honesty. At this terrible moment, I would like to request all the Nepalese people to fight and speak against this fearful and unfaithful shoting against him. May God give us courage to bear such a tragedy we never expect to come again and would like to express our heartfelt condolence to his family. May his soul peace in heaven.

Here is one song he composed by himself and sung which he added in his youtube account. I also request somebody who is expert on this fieeld to create a blog for his help on sajha.com

I was reading the news here and I was very moved to read comments from his customers, which I have pasted below or it can be seen on the link itself. How often do customers care about a store clerk so much? My respect to Ashok and condolences.

I'm shocked and appalled that such a friendly guy could have his young life taken with such disregard. Ashok always had a smile, always checked to see how things were going, and was always happy to see you. He was an aspiring guy, and I am saddened to hear the bad news.

I will miss Ashok, in fact the neighborhood will not be the same.

Ashok was or friend.

Everytime we went to his store, which was several times a week, he knew us by name and we knew him. Even just dropping by for ice cream he would ask about our family and we would talk his studying to be a Bio-science major.

He was from Nepal and came to America to study and this is how his precious life ends?

If anyone knows of any service arrangements, or how to contact his family, please post them here.

We love you Ashok, and will think of you often.

No doubt we will see you again in heaven!

My family and I used to go to this store almost all the time until recently when they stopped carrying some of the products that we buy. He was one of the nicest hard working people I have met in a long time. There was not one time that we went into the store where he was not interacting with his customers. I remember last thanksgiving we asked him if he was doing anything and he said no, and when we went on thanksgiving we had thought about bringing him food, but when we got there he had already had customers bring him food. How many people have you heard of bringing food to their convenience store clerk. Thats how much he was appreciated. Ashok family, you will remain in my family's prayers and your son will be greatly missed. MCPD will not stop until the inhumane person that is responsible for this horrible crime is arrested.

This was a great young man who worked hard, was friendly to everyone who walked into the store and did not deserve to be treated in such an inhumane way. My prayers are with Ashok's family at this time; you raised a wonderful son and he will be missed in a great way in our neighborhood. I know the MCPD will not rest until the person responsible is located and put where he will harm no other citizen again.

awful.

i have not been to this store in a long time because of the kind of foot traffic it attracts. this kid was great and so helpful. really helped the outgoing and new owners communicate.

i hope missouri city council will start paying attention to this stretch of the city. it's disgusting how cartwright-->tx parkway is being allowed to rot by mayor allen and company.

This kid was always so friendly and upbeat despite the profession that he was in. How many convenience store clerks do you know that actuallyu took a personal interest in their customers?

At just 21 years of age, he was starting his life and some thug in a do rag decided that his crack habit took precedence over this young man's being. Yet, when we hook the thug's veins up to an IV on death row, the ACLU will come to his aid and say that this means of capital punishment is cruel and inhumane. If only Mr. Ashok had the same consideration.

Hello all,

So far, we have raised over 7,500.00 through the website setup to raise fun to help send Ashok's body back to Nepal.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you who generously contributed whatever you could during this moment of grief and urgency.

I would like to urge you all to continue spread the word, so that more people could contribute to help Ashok Bhattarai's family, who want to see their beloved son, for the last time back in Nepal.

Thank you again!

Short video by  Houston Chronicle

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6036925.html

MISSOURI CITY — Police hope two convenience store customers who left the business just minutes before the clerk was slain might be able to provide some information about the case, authorities said today.

A surveillance camera showed customers at the store's counter just a few moments before a masked man walked in and shot Ashok Bhattarai,21, about 10 p.m. Sunday.

Bhattarai was dead at the scene at the 1st Food Stop at 2563 Cartwright, police said.

The camera showed a customer at the counter who walks out of the store in the same general direction from where the robber approaches.

"He might have seen the suspect," said Missouri City detective Russell Terry. "We would really like to speak to him because he might have possible information."

The camera also captured another customer getting into a car and leaving before the gunman entered the store.

The surveillance video shows the gunman throw open the front door of the store and aim a rifle at Bhattarai. After shooting the clerk he walks behind the counter and empties the safe of about $5,000.

Terry said the gunman is a young black male who was wearing black shorts, a black shirt, black shoes, a black hat and a red bandana across his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Missouri City Police Department at 281-403-8700 or Fort Bend Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477

Yeah Rhino,

Ashok's body will fly to Nepal either on Monday or Tuesday.

There is a memorial service organized by Missouri City and Ashok's customers infront of the store on Saturday at 6 pm in the evening.

Memorial Service on behalf of Nepalese in Houston will take place at a funeral home on Sunday evening.

Fund raising drive has been overwhelming. Thanks to all the contributors.

Thank you all the websites that put link on their website including Muncha.com - NetforNepal.com - D C Nepal.com

Sajha.com had promised me that they'll put the link. San dai never replied after I sent him the link. Well I do not want to elaborate on this issue... I just want to let him know that its not the time to think about personal issues during this kind of tragic situations.

(this actually is Nepal 123.com/ ashok_bhattarai ... but well, thats how San Pradhan wants it. He thinks I'd be advertising if I put Nepal 123.com on the link)

Thank you all once again!
