my mum is in the US as a tourist without no health insurance, she is now sick with pain on her right side of the head and its getting serious. what would be the best way to have her checked up? her flight back to Nepal is on 7th Jan.

Hello, please take to the emergency section of the hospital and you do not need to have insurance, if you do not have one, for any treatment done through the emergency. If she needs to be hospitalized, the hospital will take care of everything. I have seen dozens of examples here in Boston and actually have helped the people coming on this kind of visa.

       Sad to hear about your situation.    To start with I guess you made a mistake of not having travelling insurance. Travel insurance is not expensive at all. You could have  always buy easily online that covers also medical insurance.  . But now i  highly recommend you to check up in US rather than in Nepal. I still hope and believe it is nothing serious. The flight to Nepal can be postponed. But i guess some of other sajha member, particularly the one in medical field can give you a better advice. Good luck.

Hello, I do not think you will have any serious problem taking her to the hospital. Please do so at the earliest, and you do not have to tell the hospital people that she is your mom. Free medical service...

I had a similar situation last year. Here is the phone number of a Indian doctor and it will cost you only $45.00. No insurance, SS, none of those crap is required. Dont worry. Call him and everything will be alright.

Sorry to hear that. Try searching immediate care. I believe they see patient for little money. If they say it's serious visit hospital.

if u r in nyc, u can go to any city hospital emergeny room. actually u can go to any er but city hospital will be better because if she needs a followup after er visit as an outpatient she can do it for free as well.

SSN nabhako karan le garda they cant track u. they will just ask for the address. ek dui wota aausadi prescribe gardincha.just tell the doctor ki nepal gayera chitai checkup garauchaun bhanera.that will be the best option for now.aausadi testo dherai mahango pardaina.  ki ta purai dekhyera gayeni huncha hola. bill pachi matra aaucha tyo bela samma nepal gai sakeko huncha. tara tyo kurama ma sura chaina.

Sakuntala is right. I had the same situation like urs and i took my mom to dallas county hospital, emergency dept and we had to pay nothing.Take your mom to the county hospital and when you register your mom's anme and address and do not give your social security. Most probably they will only ask your moms (patient) details and ispossible request the doctor that your mom is tourist and she cannot pay for hospital fee. The hospital will put the bill under poor fund. Mt mother had thorough checkup blod test and she got saline water and we had t pay nothing. So, take ur mom to county hospital emergency section and you will be alright.

If you are in Dallas Fort worth area take her to Parkland hospital.  We treat illegal people and people who do not  have any insurence daily in large number.  If you are in any other place of the US make sure you take her to nearest county hospital in  Emergency room.  She will be treated with no problem.  Everyone has the right to get treatment at the public hospital.  I am not very sure about the private ones though.

If you are in boston, take her to Boston Medical Center. You can just apply for free care for her and start treatment right away.

I took her to the walk-in clinic. The doctor prescribed some antibiotics, the problem was with her ear. The doctor said there is nothing to worry about.

She is feeling much better now after taking the antibiotics.

its really sad..but if i was in your place i will take the mom to the hospital..do all the treatment...say that she dont have a social....just give them the address...later they can do nothing except sending the bill to the address...or u can apply for da financial aid...
