Dear All, I am in a deep trouble. When I was driving on Interstate my vehicle broke down now I have to tow the vehicle to my home town. Its around 100 miles far. I tried all the towing methods , it takes like 300-400 dollars. But I found out If you have the AAA membership either plus or the premier you can tow the vehicles free for 4 times. SO I want help from you guies to tow my vehicle back. THe member can use his membership to tow his friends car or his own. Or is there any other cheapest way that I can tow a car ? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thank you all.

You can yourself sign up with AAA. The first towing is counted as the first of the available 4 towings. Do this fast. Also if want help I think it helps greatly if you mention your area/place.

ANJEEP I am not sure if your car is in the freeway or somewhere else and i don"t know where you are. Once i had the same problem. I was driving along the freeway and all of a sudden i got a flat tyre. Ask what ? I called Houston Police Department. They provide you free service to get your car out of freeway and take it to nearby repairing centre. I hope same system is around there.

Not sure you will get premum membership while you are trying to be a member. You should have mentioned some detail how it broke ? Symptoms ? If it is a minor problem, better to be fixed locally rather towing to your home town and paying extra.

ctually I already pulled my vehicle out of the interstate and its now in one of the Nepali's house. The car doesn't start. SOme guess its timing chain while some guess its motor fault. Currently the car is located in Birmingham . My friend told one mechanic to have a look at the car. The mechanic came and have a look first he guessed starter and the engine oil or something. Then we thought thats fine and went for that. Now he says there might be problem in motor . I don't want to do whatever he says because he seems to be the inexperinced guy or something. My $200 dollars is already lost on those stuffs. SO i wanna bring to my town and check it through the workshope where one of my friend used to go frequently. I tried to purchase AAA membership but they don't give the plus or premier membership at first. SO I am in a problem . The place where I stay is like 100 miles away from Birmingham . Guies I would higly appreciate if u have any more suggestions.

AAA doesn not cover towing more than 3 miles for first week, after a week they tow upto 100 miles. If you have good friend who has AAA memebership , they can help you too. Your friend has to be there with his card when they come to tow.

Anjeep: You did not mention what kind of car you had and how it started. Someone with auto knowledge may be able to suggest. You should try this. Look on craigslist and the particular city Look on SERVICES , you will see automobile. You may see walking garage, these people will let you know what wrong with your car. If it is a minor problems they will fix it on the sopt. I guess the mechanic who came to see your car seems not experienced enough to tell what happend. That guy should have run a test and may be able to tell you. First , jump start is the primary thing to strart a dead car, hope this was done. If the battery is good and to test the starter , some one try to start the car and other person tap gentley on the starter it will start, That mechanic may be able to tell you if it was a starter. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish the sound of dead battery and dead starter, both goves the similar signal while you start the car. If the engine has some problem it may have given single of problem with check engine light on,did the engine light came on? or some kind of unusual noise. It may be something to do with distribution cap ( tune up), might be an alternater , can be taken out and check free of cost at AutoZone, will cost you over $160 to replace it depending on your car model. ? How much mileage you got on this pimp? Over 100K must have replaced timing belt and water pump together. While running timing belt is gone mean you will be facing more trouble because it will knock out other parts ( some car has timing chain and most of the time they do not need to be replace for long time), did you hear any unusual sound while going dead?? Did you see any thick smock coming out of tail and hood? I do not think so, you did not mentioned that either ? If you did then , you head gasket is gone, once it is dead , I will replace the whole engine. How often you have changed the oil? I had one dude drove his car over 6-7 month and check engine light was on. Hope you do not fall on that catagory. Look on web and people are awaiting to make money and they will come to your place any minor problems are fixed on the spot. Good luck.
