I am planning to move to a state where apartments and houses are affordable and climate is also nice. I know Dallas is one of them but I don't want to move to Dallas. Please suggest.

California is touted as the state with best weather year round which I believe is true.
If you could find friends/relatives here, you'll overtime find affordable housing for you.
