 Hi everyone,
has anybody with the green card applied for green card for the wife living in Nepal? I am wondering what is the normal processing time to bring wife from Nepal If I have green card here. It used to take 4-5 years before. Now, I heard it takes only about 7-8 months. Also, I heard this is the short term rule, It will be changed soon. Anybody aware of that? your ideas and experience will be appreciated.
Also, I want to ask for the case of greencard holders through asylum. I am hearing if i have got the greencard through asylum, I can't  go to Nepal , marry and apply for the wife's greencard. I am unmarried. I want to go to Nepal through india and get married and apply for wife's greencard. I am hearing , if i do that, she will not get the visa. what will be the best option for me please. thank you all.

No you cannot go Nepal Via India and marry her and apply for her. If you do so then they will ask your wife where did you guys to married and If the answer is Nepal then Its a deny because you are not supposed to go Nepal. Ask Lawyers from USA, India and Nepal if you both could meet in India, marry there and apply from India ifself.

thanx for the reply. I know, she can't say we got married in Nepal. what i am thinking is, we will get married in Nepal. also, do court marriage in India. then , make marriage certificate via indian court. then, I will come back and apply for her. She can give interview in nepal because she has no fear. she can tell we got married in India and there is proof too. i don't know exactly how other people are doing? so many people are doing it...........don't know how they apply for the family.

Does the Indian court registers the marriage for Nepalese people? I doubt that but I would suggest you to check on that. Other than that the rest of the plan looks smooth.
Also about bringing spouse for greencard holders, was that quicker method really approved or was it just a proposal as I am not able to see it yet in the USCIS.

Simple.

 लोप्चन are you sure?

Thank you everyone for reply. What I was thinking before was, If we can do court marriage in USA, Why not in India. You guys are right. we can do here because we have been living here, we have proof of address, license , everything. They might have requirements. of course, Indian court will have requirements which we may not be able to fulfill  all of sudden.

so, second Idea sounded great to me. Marry in Nepal and go to India . Marry in Temple. ask for certificate, take photos. that is evidence. don't show anything from nepal. how can they deny? no way. I think if it is not hard to go to Indian temple and get marriage certificate, that will be the wonderful idea. you know, when you marry in temple, they don't require any legal proof. it is a culture.

great. IF anybody has experience on that or have seen somebody done before. Please share the experience, how to step ahead on that.           thank you all.

I will be updating about my case with you guys.
