Normally, the company will contact the reference person you have mentioned in your resume while applying for the job through background check mail documents or they might call a person over the phone to enquire about you. Nothing serious, no need to worry :)

Normally, background checks cover crime history, education, work experience, valid work authorization, even obtained all educational transcripts, driving history, credit checks, etc. Donot take background check lightly.

For full-time job, the employer will verify all your educational qualification and experiences.

If you are offered a job from a client side ( not a consulting company or dhoti's) then most of the client do not do the background check by themselves. There is a 3rd party vendor for your background screening on the behalf of the client and they will do all your screenings, background check so please do not fake on your education qualification because they will directly contact to your school on your qualification, regarding work experience we all know most of us do not have the working experience of 5-6 years which they are looking for, so if they are asking for certain amount of time experiences and if you do not have that one then have some body (preferred) Nepali companies to tell them that you have been working for them for the last 5 -6 years (depending upon the experience) needed for the requirement. If you don't know the people then have a trusted friend and write down his number on the past employer and give it to them. The 3rd party vendor will just call your friend and ask them whether did you work for them or not?Nobody has so much amount of time to go and verify all the experiences, they just need it for the processing only too. And after it got cleared then they will just sent it to your employer and you will get hired. Do not worry about your credit or other things, it will not hurt on most of the situation ..
I work for the HR and this is exactly the process we follow and most of the organization . Keep us posted and good luck for the job and please let us know if you have any questions :)
