Hello, How should a naturalized citizen of Nepalese origin go about applying for Nepali visa with an intent of spending several months (over 6 months) in Nepal? Apparently, you can only get a 3-month long tourist visa for $100. Surely, there are better alternatives for someone seeking long-term stay, legally that is?

Go to your local municipality and get a 'relationship' (natedar) document of you and your father/mother. If you have one right now, it will be helpful. Not sure how long it will take to make one, you never know it might take a long time. If you don't have one, get one before you go there. When you land in KTM, get a month visa at the airport but then after few days (with that document) you can go to the immigration office and get visa for a year straight for lot cheaper. I think it is $5 for a month.

Nice. Thanks a ton, man. Luckily, we're all required to have these documents. Any idea on how long will the process take? While on topic, I was wondering if anybody's applied for NRN card.

It will take few hours. You submit the paper and they will tell you to come later that day. The office has moved a bit further near Dillibabar going towards Anam Nagar. It is on a hill, no parking, the toilet is horrible in the office. BTW, there is a small print shop right infront of the building. If you pay them Rs 500, they will fill the form online right there within few minutes and direct you where you need to go. You also need a passport size picture.

Some might find these useful. http://www.nepalimmigration.gov.np/?page_id=96 http://online.nepalimmigration.gov.np/non-tourist-visa-nrn Apparently, Brazilians, Chinese, and Russians are visa-exempt for stays upto 30 days. Bizarre.
