I saw something like that on FB. This douche divorced his wife for being a Manglik. I feel really bad for the girl. What happened to all the education he got in the US? And in which world do we live in?
You can see more about the guy on his Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Lamapraveen?fref=ts
He publicly announced the divorce. Interference of privacy is not an option IMO.

I know a guy who is in Nepal has MS degree from US. He made a girlfriend over 3 years and started matching horoscope and had the same issue and break up.

Just looked up the meaning. What a ***king lunatic. The way that people seem to patronize this moron is ridiculous and appalling. His audacity to publicize his idiocy, seeking support makes it truly cringeworthy and sickening. You gotta feel for that woman.

In life you might get dumped by a "Karisma" only to get adopted by an even better "Aishwarya". This could be a blessing in disguise for the "dumpee" not just for the "dumper". It would be premature to judge either party without knowing anything about them.

The question is valid. A sane person should never divorce his wife for just being mangalik. But.... Before you start bashing the guy.. maybe he had his reasons and was emotionally unstable when he said all that. Of course it was stupid to put it on FB, but people do stupid things in life when they are emotionally unstable. From little knowledge I have, I think Mangalik people are belligerent by nature. They argue and confront on almost everything. So maybe the guy was tired of his wife arguing and fighting with him everyday. My "speculation" is as good the rest of you. You should have brought this discussion without giving out the identity of the guy in question. That would have constrained the argument to the superstition part and not the guy himself.

See "Manglik" also happens to be a Hindi word.
A long time ago somebody asked me a riddle, "what'll happen to a black brotha if you tie up his hands?" "He will not be able to talk" was the correct answer - the riddler revealed later.
Similar thing is happening with the very Nepalese people who want to keep Nepali language as the official one. More and more likely, they can't write or speak a sentence in Nepali without inserting a Hindi word into it. Hindi will become our national language sooner or later.

Thank you everyone for contributing to this thread. I just wanted to see whether you believe in superstition or not. I saw a life being destroyed for a simple reason, which is beyond our control. It was a yes/no question, but it looked like most of us here on Sajha would not do what the guy did.
You can watch "lage raho munna bhai" where one character is manglik. It's just a movie, but it's a common sense.
I will delete this thread in few days because it includes some people's identity. IDK how the girl gonna feel if she finds out this thread.

GeetMaiJawaafDiu.. No offense brother but your arguments will have more weight if you put some kind of reference behind your claims. How do you know if something is Nepali or not? Are you a linguist? What is your level of knowledge in regards to Nepali language and it's history (besides studying in school)? For all you know it could be a Sanskrit word or some hindi words may be words of Indian subcontinent. There are many words in English language which came from Sanskrit. "Guru" as you know and "Pundit" are all Sanskrit. Yet they are used in everyday english language. In other words, language is a barrier but language has no barriers. And besides Nepal doesn't just mean Kathmandu. If you go to Terai regions or even western Nepal, a lot of words sound like Hindi. Many are derived from Sanskrit. That's how people use the language. If you go to Bhutan or Burma, they may have different dialects. Also have you listened to some African Americans or even people from southern states talking? They talk like "We was going to schools" and not "We were going to schools". Does that make them any less Americans than the costal American people? Nepal is already divided by politicians talking about ethnicity and language and culture. We don't need another fuel to the fire. Think about it dude.
