My spouse filed a Green Card Petition on behalf of me. USCIS asked for Joint sponsor proof of citizenship or LPR status??

What does this mean.
1.Can it just be a proof of US citizen or Green Card status.( passport, citizenship certificate, copy of green card)
2. Or it has to be 1 and the proof of financial documents too.

Did your spouse put someone as sponsor on any of finacial affidavits while petitioning for you? If not, the sponsor is your spouse and USCIS is asking the proof of US citizenship or green card of your spouse.
If there are other people who have been named as sponsors in financial documents, proof of their citizenship or green car.

My spouse citizenship was submitted along the application and no one was listed as my sponsor when filing. also they asked for joint sponsors would that make it someone else.

Did your spouse submit form i-864, please review the copy of submitted i-864 and see if joint sponsor is checked by mistake. Uscis talked about joint sponsor based on that form.

If they ASKED for a join sponsor, then your spouse's income is not enough to sponsor you. They will not process your file until you find this person.

And Join Sponsor is ANYONE who would sign i864 for you. S/he should also provide documents verifying his US citizenship status or PR status. Moreover, s/he is willing to submit 3 years of tax documents and documents verifying his/her current income (pay stuff or letter from employer). Importantly, his/her 3 years of income must be above the 125% of poverty level. This person does not need to be related to you. S/he can be your neighbor, friend, parents, or anyone else holding either the US citizen or Greencard. Finally, all the incomes/assets must be located in the US (however, any properties under mortgage does not count as an asset)

Your employer can help you. Did you ask them?

@619Mysterio from a different perspective, I have similar predicament. I was asked to sponsor a friend of mine who was not easily finding a joint sponsor because her spouse (an American Citizen) did not have any income and receives government's assistance. My income is ok but unfortunately I am sponsoring a relative who is in a similar boat. So relative's request took precedence over this dear friend. My predicament is, if I had sponsored this friend and, say, 3 years down the line they get divorced. Would her divorced American Citizen spouse claim financial support from me? (As I, being a guarantor in the I-864 - Affidavit of Support). I can assume with certain confidence that my friend, whom I'd sponsor, will not claim financial support from me, but I am not so sure about her current spouse whom I do not know well and who is already obtaining financial assistance from his State.
