Nope. They are different. If u are young they might be able to provide birth cirtificate. vdc and municipalities started registering birth/death quite recently. If you are old, they will provide you with a letter stating your date of birth. So, go to ur vdc/municipality and they will provide you with whichever applies to u.

FanTush,

Like other users have commented, birth certificate and citizenship certificate in Nepal are two different things and imply different things. Unlike in the US (and some countries in the world), just by being born in Nepal does not qualify a person to claim and acquire Nepalese citizenship, per Nepalese law.

Therefore, USCIS asks for both citizenship certificate and birth certificate for certain processes to understand where the applicant was born and which country's citizenship he or she holds. Based on experience, I can say that if you birth certificate from Nepal, which is on a any government/official letter pad and signed by a government official, states both your date of birth and dictates that you're a Nepalese citizen, this will suffice for both the citizenship certificate and birth certificate requirements.

Good Luck.

If it's for USCIS, Nepalese citizenship certificate does not work as a birth certificate, in fact, nepalese citizenship certificate is of no use for USCIS or embassy visa processing.
