Did you say QA is an IT job? QA is not IT. It doesn't require any IT skills such as Programming, Networking, Database. Anyway, Good Luck for non-IT QA job.

Thank you for your response NepaliBudho. I have never given any assessment test in QA job. I am wondering if I can make it. The company is looking for someone to work in insurance domain. If anyone can help me how to prepare for that interview. I hardly get interview call. I don't want to miss this one. They said SQL knowledge will help you. I just know little SQL never worked in insurance domain I have it just in my resume.

What kind of insurance domain is it? Health or Property? If it's not Health, then I can give you real life insurance domain knowledge used in IT. on SQL, learn to use different joins, distinct, group by, order by. Also use whatever you learned in those 3 months to sound more confident.

@ kunthaun thank you for your response. It should not be health insurance domain because they pointed my state farms project from my resume, telling me you have worked already in insurance so it is a good fit for you. It should be property insurance domain. My interview is on April 7 th so I am trying to prepare as early with your inputs. I have gained some experience to talked boldly and explain the things from that 3 months period.

lol NepaliBudho, that is plain disrespectful for the OP, but I like the way he/she handled it. just FYI, if you work in the domain where quality is key, QA do write codes. They develop plugins ( like sonar plugins , which is entirely java) for code analysis, build scripts ( which can be intense scripting like maven and ant ), integration with automate building and testing like Jazz's build, test data generation from tools like OPTIM where you need all the details of database ( less than dba, but definitley more than developer), writing test scripts like for selenium , automated integration test script which is most likely done in the language application is developed. FYI, I am not QA or Tester. A good developer makes the good tester, if you did not know about it. so For a valuable QA, simple coding is mandatory ( though not like dedicated developer).

Hello New1, I'm not a QA nor an IT pro, I'm running for presidency this year, I'm gonna make America great again I'll deport illegals and punish abortion. Well I guess its to late to make you April fool, Cheer up!! I see few illegal aliens here are making you confused. To the point: SQL based testing jobs are pretty easy, all you need to know is basic SQL concept.. once you know how to run queries and get the result set.. finding bugs is pretty easy. Make a test plan see If the SQL statement is running or not thats mostly the testing job all you will require to do however it might be wider than imagination but its good enough to start some where. As far as the assessment is concerned if you work on your SQL for 5 days you are good to go. Just be confident. Here is the link to 50 popular SQL interview question for testers: http://www.softwaretestinghelp.com/50-popular-sql-interview-questions-for-testers/

@ WakkaDikka22 thank you for your insights, it helps. Since the company is an insurance company "Duck Creek" may be the assessment might have some insurance based question too.
