Go in Nepali passport, return in US passport. You are welcome.
Remember, you will need to declare Nepali passport while departing and check in as well.
While returning, you will have to do the same but with US passport.

You can enter Nepal with Nepali Passport but how will you depart with same - If you use Nepali passport to depart they will ask for visa stamping or green card.

If you use Nepali passport to enter Nepal and depart using US passport - then they might ask you about arrival stamp on the US passport.

So better use US passport - Get Visa on arrival - take some passport pictures with you and some US dollars.

Smartest people work in Immigration , Custom and Most revenue generating government offices. Even a simple work will be twisted and harassed for " Chiya Pani" it is like" gas station" making extra money.
Without proper Document and proper stamp on it will be impossible to leave the TIA. You need to show visa or document fly your Destination. If you have kept your green card ( not tossed after Oath) and still has the valid date, you can show that. What are you going to say on US custom ? You can tell that they did not stamp on US passport.

If you follow bhetghat's advice, you will be doing bhetghat with cops and immigration officers in a separate room for a very very long time.
Nepalese immigration officers ask for the proof that you are allowed to travel while departing or you entered in Nepal legally. If you show US passport during departure, they will ask for entry stamp/visa used during entry. Once they know you used Nepalese passport during entry, you are in a a big big problem. Nepalese constituion has not yet allowed dual citizenship.

Actually the new Nepali constitution does allow dual citizenship , but the sad part is there are no follow up rules and regulations created based on that, and it's more than a year already. The saddest part is you guys, should be lobbying and demanding the rights to the Nepali govt based on the new constitution but you guys are not even aware of what the new constitution has granted . some bluntly say, it's not granted and it' s now allowed. Some day, you have to get NRN card. Some say, use one passport to enter and use another to exit.
So here is the update, the new Nepali constitution does allow the continuation of the citizenship after you naturalize in a foreign country, but they have not made any rules based on that yet. Neither , they seem to care, nor you guys are aware of it to put demand, pressure etc , so the chances of using the benefit of dual citizenship legally based on the new constitution is very slim to none. Yes, the NRN card is still available, but that is what was based on the previous constitution, now the new constitution grants better things for NRN, so it's up to you guys to demand that. It's like you have a masters degree now, but you're working with your 8th grade certification.
don't try to hustle Nepali immigration authorities with using 2 passports.since new laws are not passed they can legally ban you from entering Nepal and you have to sneak from India to go to your own place of birth.

read this : http://www.nepalembassy-germany.de/pdfs/Constitution_full_english.pdf

14. Power to grant non-resident Nepalese citizenship: The non-residential
citizenship of Nepal may be so granted to a person who has acquired the
citizenship of a foreign country, has resided in a country other than a member
state of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, and who or
whose father or mother, grandfather or grandmother was previously a citizen of
Nepal by decent or birth but subsequently acquired the citizenship of the
foreign country that such person may enjoy economic, social and cultural
rights in accordance with the Federal law.

@sajhamitra @ny2 bujhdai nabuji k ho?

Step 7: Departing Immigration
Passport to Show: The One You Used to Enter
Here we continue to do things in reverse. Present the passport you used to enter your destination country in order to exit. Authorities will look for the entry stamp in order to match it with an exit stamp and complete your visit.
Example: Ram shows his Nepalese passport to exit which he used to enter Nepal at the start of his trip.

@new1 - toddlers also need visa - so take passport pictures of the family members who have US passport.

Bro sarai guff dido raicha
.first of all they take your green card at the naturalization interview so u won't have a plastic card to show it to Nepali authorities.also US citizens don't get a point of entry visa in India. They have to apply from the US. IF you would to show your US passpkrt with out Indian visa to board your flight to the US you would get arrested for entering to india as a us citizen without a visa. The dual citizen this g wold work for you bong to the countries where you can get visa at arrival, both ways.like uk and us,or aus and us.you would simultaneously show the passport of the country you are entering.but since Nepalis can't get visa on arrival al to the us that won't work.

https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/india.html
All U.S. citizens need a valid passport and valid Indian visa to enter and exit India for any purpose (also see Special Circumstances section below). Most visitors, including those on official U.S. government business, must apply for visas at an Indian embassy or consulate abroad before entering the country. U.S. citizens seeking to enter India solely for tourist purposes, and who plan to stay no longer than 30 days, may apply for an electronic travel authorization at least four days prior to their arrival in lieu of applying for a tourist visa at an Indian embassy or consulate.

You can take passport pictures for toddlers or you can do it in nepal airport on arrival. You might have to stay on a line but it doesn't take too long to fill form and do the pictures.

@bhetghat: do u possess a US passport or just GC?
If you have a US passport and travel to india from Nepal on Nepalese passport, you will be apprehended in India during departure to US since they don't see an Indian visa in the US passport. You can't depart from India to US on Nepalese passport, you have to show US passport. Once you show that they wanna see the entry record which you won't have on US passport. Then you are in a problem.

Nepal to India, you can travel with just a nepalese nagarikta not even a passport. The problem arises when you are departing to US.

@ny2 @sidanepali
I think you are making it complicated. I never said point of entry in India. India is just a connection and you are not entering India hence no Visa required if transit is less than 72 hrs. Yeti ko research garnai pardena kura bujeko bhaye. Use nepali passport in Nepal to get in and out. Again, all this to save money for tourist visa for the whole family. That was the main question. I have traveled multiple times with gc and also pp. Its the same thing with Britsh pp. All my cousins have traveled from UK with Nepali pp to Nepal and they dont even have India transit.

Sathi, what are you talking about? yes you can use India for transit but you have to board on the flight first from Nepal and for that you have to show your US passport to the Nepali authorities.

If you show your US passport in in Nepal while exiting but you you had entered using your Nepali passport , then you're in trouble in Nepal for not having an arrival stamp on your US passport.

Yes you can fly to India and using your Nepali passport, but then you're not in transit and you will get in trouble in India if you try to use your US passport in India because they will question you how you entered India with US passport and no visa. and no india does not recognize dual citizenship.

you can't enter India with Nepali passport an board the US flight using your American passport. Not technically at least. So you said , you were just in a transit in India for less than 72 hours, so in the first place, how did you get on the plane to be in a transit with your final destination as the US without showing your US passport in Nepal?if you entered Nepal using your Nepali passport.

if you are talking about your experience as travelling as a green card then it's totally different to what people are talking on this thread. You said your cousins relatives used Nepali passport to get into Nepal, but that's not even the point of discussion here. Everyone with Nepali passport can enter Nepal, but did they use their British passport to fly back to the UK?

Sorry i just don't want people to get wrong information and get stranded or get banned from Entering Nepal or India. Trust me Nepali immigration is tough for foreigners.
