For a median 2k sqft house, new built you are looking at about 310k (outskirt of mteroplex). Good price, better option around mckinney, Frisco, Grand Prairie (Mansfield ISD), Keller. Pretty expensive around euless, Bedford, Irving, Plano, Allen, Murphy). Cheaper in Arlington and Fort Worth ( No so good ISD).

I bought my first house in Dallas (Colleyville) last October, My suggestion: First decide: Location-type of house, Built year, New built , Square Feet etc Research Your financials Get pre approved- agent will entertain more if you have pre approval letter Find local agent: I can recommend one ( If you ask for)- Depending on the location Shoot me an email if you are looking for any specific information

Being a local realtor here in the DFW metroplex, first I would recommend you to get pre-approved through a mortgage company, that way both you and the realtor would have an idea of what price range you should stay within. Secondly, you would need to decide on your needs and wants (location, school district, bedrooms, year built and so on). After understanding, your needs and wants and the price range, your realtor would start showing you homes and make an offer on the one you liked the most. Please be advised that since it a sellers' market, a lot of sellers would require a Pre-Approval letter from lender when making an offer as it provides proof of the ability to obtain financing. If you need help finding a lender or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at 817-896-7506. Good luck!
