Guys, Have any of you applied for NRN card? If so, I'm sure you obtained NRN visa when you travelled to Nepal. I know NRN cards are valid for 10 years, but what about NRN Visa. Is it valid for only 30 days, or 1 year, or 10 years?

Very polite request, please do not send me URLS from Nepali immigration website. I've read it all, and only got very confused, since the info out there is very inconsistent.

@ehh02: i thought the same brother..But upon reading up on those immigration acts, it says that NRN card holders need a special category of VISA called NRN Visa to enter/stay in Nepal. Also, i thought the VISA would be valid for 10 years, but apparently, you have to renew is every 30 days or 365 days. That would be a pain. I've sent out an email request to the department of immigration Nepal to inquire about this, but have not been able to receive any response. Also, staying in Nepal without a proper VISA means a hefty fine. I think it's $2/day. So, if i stayed in Nepal for 7 years thinking my NRN card is valid, i would be paying $7*365*2 dollars to to the Nepal government, plus much hassle. They only have info on applying for the NRN card, but no info on these specific details.

I don't have experience but this is what i think.
Upon landing they will give you tourist visa without any fee for 15-30 days.
Then you will need to go to MOI with appropriate documents to get visa for how many months you want to stay. This is also free of cost.

However i saw one conflicting statement saying that NRN can stay in Nepal without any questioning and hassle like nepali citizens do. In that case why do nrn even need visa?

Nowadays the rules are strict after the Oli Government found most NRN’s have used tax haven countries investments to evade tax in Nepal, accumulated wealth in Swiss Banks and used Nepal only as a puppet to invest, evade taxes and make tonnes of black and illegal money.
Mr. Oli might even propose a new rule where NRN’s won’t be able to invest a dime in Nepal or even might get banned from entering Nepal.
