USCIS Begins Accepting Green Card Applications under Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness Today, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that it will begin accepting applications to adjust status to lawful permanent resident from certain Liberian nationals under Section 7611 of the National Defense Authorization Act (PDF) for Fiscal Year 2020, Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness (LRIF), signed into law on Dec. 20, 2019. To be eligible for permanent residence (a Green Card) under LRIF, a Liberian national must have been continuously physically present in the United States from Nov. 20, 2014, to the date they properly file an application for adjustment of status. USCIS will accept properly filed applications until Dec. 20, 2020, one year from the enactment of the LRIF. Applicants must be otherwise eligible to receive an immigrant visa and be admissible to the United States. The spouses, unmarried children under 21, and unmarried sons and daughters 21 or older of eligible Liberian nationals are also eligible for Green Cards. The following grounds of inadmissibility do not apply to applicants under the LRIF: - Public Charge (INA 212(a)(4));
- Labor Certification Requirements (INA 212(a)(5));
- Aliens Present Without Admission or Parole (INA 212(a)(6)(A)); and
- Documentation Requirements (INA 212(a)(7)(A)).
Aliens are ineligible under LRIF if they have: - Been convicted of any aggravated felony;
- Been convicted of two or more crimes involving moral turpitude (other than a purely political offense); or
- Ordered, incited, assisted or otherwise participated in the persecution of any person on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion.
For more information about filing for adjustment of status under the LRIF, see the LRIF page on the USCIS website and the page for Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.

@ AJ Joshi: You talk like a child. From 2008 to 2016, blue control for 8 years, and also they controlled House and Senate for 2 years as well. NO IMMIGRATION REFORM HAPPENED ON OBAMA WATCH.
American with Hispanics, Indians, and Europeans background voted for Obama, so he would do Immigration Reform, at the end, he did nothing. 11 million people are still staying illegal in this country.
Now, if they are telling you the same, and you believe it, then you must be dreaming. Good luck.

@Cocomandrake000 Yes, I remember being here that's why I bothered to ask because it appears a lie to me when I hear Democrats controlled both house and senate for 2 years. There is no question that Democrats had total control in the House from 2009-2011 but not the senate for TWO whole YEARS! The legislation does not become law without the Senate. To say to have total control of a senate you need 60 senators because the Senate operates with the 60 vote requirement filibuster rule and Dems had only 57 at that time(The real Democratic Senate seat number on Jan 09 was 55 Democrats plus 2 Independents caucusing with Dems equaling 57 Senate seats.) But during that time things happened like; one GOP senator became a democrat, some were sick and joined late, one democratic senator died and temporarily replaced by Paul Kirk. During that time, for a very short period, the total Democratic senators count was 60. If you look at the timeline correctly you will find that the Obama, had total control of the Senate only from September 24, 2009, until February 4, 2010. Only for a total of 4 months, and that's when Obamacare was passed. In short, Democrats never controlled the Senator for TWO years. Just because you repeat the same lie over and over again it doesn't become a truth!!

Only way that republicans rule is spreading lies, and by fear mongering. But it's sad that so called moderate democrats have no back bones.
