They have mentioned that they like to keep their share price low so that regular people can easily afford to buy few shares of apple. Are you suggesting that apple has some deeper “evil” plan from this split? Thank you Prika! I m asking why now? Is economy doomed? Is stock markets is coming to fall?  When things were looking good for them? They are a great conpany, Q3 growth looked awesome, people got confidence in them. Also, Every company have the price area where they wanna stay. If the managers of conpany noticed it’s trading higher then they thought, they will split.
‘More accessible to general investors.’- is a generic answer. Also, most trading brokerages also allow retail investors to purchase fractional shares, so splitting to a lower price per share isn't necessary to attract greater retail interest. Apple have played with split before, they are pro.
