Hello all, Hope you're doing well. My query is regarding a work visa. So, if you are inside the US on a non-working visa, and some employers offer you a job, what sort of visa would be the quickest path to start? I know few people in L1 but I guess that depends on the level of expertise or the sector your work is under?! Please suggest. TIA, Good day!

If you qualify for following mentioned requirement for L1: To qualify for an L1 visa the employee, which can include business owners, must have worked for a subsidiary, parent, affiliate or branch office of the US company outside of the US for at least one year out of the last three years. Otherwise without work permit on non-working visa you won’t be able to work for any employer legally!! Unless you get married with GC holder or have OPT

@username619 : Thanks for your reply. So, if its a medical industry that is offering the job, would it help applying for H1 or J1?

to qualify for j1: In order to be eligible, participants must be between the ages of 15 and 18.5 by the first day of school. They must not have completed more than 11 years of primary and secondary school (excluding kindergarten), and they must not have previously participated in a secondary school exchange program in the US. i am not sure more on j1 though, there could be more!! but i think you should be able to apply for h1 lottery if you have a confirmed job offer from an employer willing to file for an H-1B visa on your behalf. I guess you wont be able to work until you are selected for h1 lottery or if you need a work permit for an employer to file h1 for you!! I am not sure on that!!

It would be H1, even if selected and approved, you can start working from Oct 1 2022 only.

Chances of h1 lottery selection now are so low because of the new electronic lottery system compare to before when it was all papers, consultancies ruined the electronic system, submitting 3-4 lottery on behalf of one person -- but goodluck :)

If you are in healthcare, many hospitals are non profit, their H1 donot fall within the lottery system.
