I am thinking of going to Nepal for my H1B stamping sometime in 2022, ideally in next few months. I heard the interview is waived for H1B. Simply need to submit a packet of required document and passport and they will give back the passport with stamping. Did anybody go to Nepal recently for H1B stamping (during covid times)? I am thinking of going to Nepal for 2 weeks. I just wanna know about the experience and the risk of not getting stamping in 2 weeks. Cannot afford to extend my vacation in Nepal if I do not get my document on time. I would appreciate if someone can share their experience if they have done it recently.

nepal doesn't qualify for Visa Waiver Program (VWP) program . Infact first time stamping has been harder than ever . they are taking time and looking into every small details . 2 weeks, unfortunately will not be enough . administrative processing could take weeks if not months . one of my formal employee ( research assistant ) who works in a pharma company now ( not dhoti consultancy employee ) is facing administrative processing ( had some minor violation while on f1 ) . for 2 weeks i would suggest travelling Mexico 2 get first stamp, its a very smooth process . but as you know, things depend on individual circumstances, if you have very clean record ( no f1 violations, no social media complains no domestic violence, good work history etc ) then it should be OK .

It’s my second stamp and I have entered and exited the USA multiple times during using the first stamp (before covid). I thought the whole idea of waiving interview was to make it easier for people to come to the US, especially people who are already living here permanently. I would go to Mexico but I fee like if I get stuck somewhere I would rather get stuck in Nepal, at least I get to live with my family. Let’s see.

if you are not stamping H1b for the first time it should be OK . the first time stamping people are facing significant delays even Indians, but still Nepal doesn't qualify interview waiver
