Dictatorship in the brink

They declared the Nepalese monarchy amaranthine. They related the centuries old Shah dynasty to the very existence of Nepal and claimed that without its survival Nepal would cease to exist. They said dictatorship controlled by the monarchy is the best way of governance in Nepal and asserted that their lord, his majesty, is the solution to every problems Nepal have been facing. King Gyanendra has the magic wand to bring peace in Nepal, he will tame the Maoists and punish the corrupt leaders, a stable and prosperous democratic Nepal will stand in three years which he would hand over to the best politicians of the country, they claimed.

The number of those who were vociferously glorifying their lord one year ago has declined to a handful now. Perhaps the ‘outstanding progresses’ made in the direction of peaceful and stable democracy in the leadership of their lord has redirected their preferences, many of them have disappeared from the scene. Or may be they are stunned by the developments in one year. I mean where are they now? What is the reason to shut their mouth when their lordship is still functioning so stubbornly? Is it possible that they see no future in their political lineage and now are convinced that their faith, their loyalty, the monarchy is on the brink? Have they decided to die a peaceful ideological death and call the dictator and his henchmen to follow suit? To the best interest of Nepal and as a fellow citizen, as we begin the countdown of the downfall of the tyrannical regime, should I request the intellectuals from the opposing school of thoughts to share their views about how the upcoming democratic movement can accommodate them in the effort to bring genuine democratic changes in Nepal?

The countdown

Finally the scene of a full scale battle between the democratic and autocratic forces of the country starts appearing in the Nepalese horizon.
The political spectrum now reveals the prospect of a decisive strike against the decayed monarchy sooner than later. The countdown of events normally begins one year in advance. Let us be prepared for dislodging dictatorial regime, because it’s going to crumble no later than the year 2006. This is the time for conscious Nepalese to embrace their political leaning and support their preferred agenda as much as possible.
In the mean time the feudal remnants are preparing to wage their last defence and survive the public assault.
They know that they are going to loose very meekly but they want to save their face for a cowardly resistance, instead of accepting the supremacy of people’s will to live in freedom, throughout the world.
But history doesn’t give too many opportunities to the ambitious rulers. Those who have cashed in without too much bickering have protected their existence; those who have been madly stubborn have perished without a real fight.
People’s power has never been weak. The rulers who have understood the force of mass have shrewdly shared power with their representatives; those who have undermined it have earmarked their name in the black pages of history.

King Gyanendra was given too many chances but he spilled each of them. He always had the upper hand in the balance of power and he would have secured the largest bite, had he accepted to share the bone. But he wanted to grab the whole piece leaving all others hungry. Unfortunately the bone stuck in his throat and now he is all set to pay the price for his greed.

Political revolution is a week long drama that teaches autocrats the lessons of ignorance without giving them the second chance to learn and improve. It comes whimsically like a storm and roots out the despotic infrastructures leaving a deserted political field. Some nations establish a functional democracy on that field; some get worse than ever before. But the storm doesn’t foresee the future. It comes and knocks down the symbols of tyranny leaving the people to build their fate on the empty field. Ignorant the sympathisers of dictatorship may be, but the storm is lurking towards Narayanhiti. Early 2006 will bring encouraging news for the champions of democracy, aspirants of dictatorship will either accept the victory of freedom or their interest will be wiped away along with the vestiges of tyranny. Come let us all join the force of freedom now.

FREEDOM....yup a strong word. For the aristocrats of opressed countries, they believe freedom for all is bad, because it would strip away their power and wealth. Without freedom, there is no morality. Being able to evaluate a situation in reference to one's moral code and then choose the appropriate course of action must be volitional. If it is not chosen then nothing distinguishes it from any other act and thus morality has no value.

Freedom ranks as first and formost among moral values for many. Without it, all the others(right to live, etc.) are meaningless, unless they exist in the context of freedom.

We are all joining the forces of freedom by sitting behind our computer, safely tucked away from the reaches of any autocratic regimes, and typing away...

Kudos to the new world. Kudos to the new freedom fighters.

Come one, come all, come join the forces of freedom by typing away. LMAO.

Saroj jee, you are right; if we do the suppression as they do, then the democracy will just be the change of label. I don't agree to suprress, n' there should definitely be the freedom of speech. However, it's really futile to talk with some of these guys. Have u been following their posts recently, verbal assaults, nagarkot massacre n' their doubts about the picture of teargas during demonstration. It's disgusting.

News from Nepal are very exciting to the followers and disturbing to the opposers of democracy. There is a sign of resignation in the expressions of current ministers. They are looking for the last resort - repression through extreme force, to save the remnants of tyranny.

Security mechanisms are ordered to use whatever force needed to disrupt Friday's demonstrations. Army personnels and police are directed to arrest political leaders. They claim that the arrests will scale down the planned demonstrations, which they fear might turn violent and lead to the fall of the regime subsequently. What they have failed to understand is that the mass might go berserk without a proper leadership. Whereas leaders can call for restraint, their absence might trigger disorder amongst the demonstrators resulting into a violent mob. At the same time, when security mechanism is concentrated to curb down Friday's demonstrations, possible maoists attacks in the capital may be more damaging.

I wonder the regime has any other priorities than to hanging on power for as many days as it can. To fulfill this objective, the authorities wil exploit the public resources to suppress the opposition. This will lead to bloodshed. The regime is set to fall. It may take a couple of days or weeks or months, but it will definitely fall. Hence to minimise the risk of heavy casualty, the democratic movement in shape, should be very big. The bigger the demonstrations are, the lesser will be the number of martyrs in this movement. The achievements of this democratic movement will be much more than what we got in 2046. This time people will not settle for less power to themselves. The very least achievement will be a powerless, ceremonial monarchy which would not dare to abduct democracy in the future, a constitutional assembly election and the accomodation to the maoists rebels - solution to a decade plus long crisis. Anything more is the inception of the Democratic Republic of Nepal. The writing is on the wall. This is exactly why the Pashupati SJBR faction of the RPP opted not to openly support the King's regime. Kamal Thapa will have no political future, so will be the fate of all the King's men. This is the time to free yourselves from the clutches of slavery. This is the time to be united for freeing ourselves from the dictatorship of the feudal monarchy. Lets not let King Gyanendra to enact brutal tyranny in our backyard in the 21st century. Therefore,

COME AND JOIN THE FORCE OF FREEDOM

Freedom, here I remember one quote by Rouso if Im not wrong ''man is born free but he is in chain everytime''.

Well, talking about Nepal's context, there has never been freedom to the Nepalis people, in my opinion. U might argue, wot abt those years after 2046 (b4 feb 1). I really dont see any difference whether Gyane is in power or those PHATHA political monkes so called leaders. Here we can compare who deprived less to nepali people.

I guess u all remember, so called our political leaders wheter Makune, Girija, KP oli, sher Bahadur, Surya B thapa, and alll they never think of country, moreover they dont have capability to run the nation, just see their background, their attitude. They can do anything to be in power.

Nepal ma janmane bittikai Neta, fcuk them, u dont need any qualification, no experience, no image, sale gadha haru......the people who had to struggle for hand to mouth build bungalws once they r in power (example Modanatha Prashit.....have u seen his big housr in Swyambhu?) I think in this race no one is less than KING. But never get wrong imprerssin that I support king........

There is so mch to be written....Ok guys keep coming.

I like Chinese,
I like Chinese,
They come from a long way overseas,
And they're cute and they're cuddly and they're ready to please!
I like Chinese thought,
The wisdom Confucious taught,
Think of the many things they've done to impress,
There's Maoism, Taoism, I-Ching, and Chess.
