I was surprised to read this fact about Baburam Bhattrai.
.
.
.
"Before committing himself fully to politics, Bhattarai was also a brilliant chess player. He used to say that chess was to Communists what water was to ducks, and tirelessly pointed out that Lenin was also a chess enthusiast.

When the then FIDE president Max Euwe gave a simultaneous exhibition in Kathmandu, Bhattarai played against him and beat the former world champion in 23 moves with a brilliant queen sacrifice. Afterwards, Dr. Euwe was reported in local media as saying, "Alekhine lives in Nepal!".

Many Nepalese chess fans rue the fact that Nepal lost its first potential FIDE Grand Master when Dr. Bhattarai gave up competitive chess to devote himself exclusively to the revolutionary struggle."

Newuser-ji,

Quite an entertaining outburst, there.
Enjoyed it.

I didn't know so many things about myself.
Now thank to you, I know - much to my surprise - what's really going on in
my own life.

Anyway, hope you are feeling better now.
If not, then, have a glass of water, please, and then take a deep breath.

That said, I find it hard to understand just what your problem is when someone, who is as obviously "unqualified" as I am, stands up in public and says: "So far as I concerned, the greatest problem facing Nepali democracy and Nepal's freedom is that arising out of Maoist violence", and then decides to focus all his attention on addressing that problem in his own ways?

Why do you Democrats (with capital D) feel this itch to slam me when you "know" that, hey, I am neither influential in Nepal nor have done anything remarkable ever in my life? Quite strange, isn't it -- to be arguing back and forth with someone like me who can't match your, ahem, achievements?

Or, could it be that the truth is:

You Democrats (with capital D) are so goddamn blind to Nepal's present realities (in terms of what we have, and what can achieve with what we have), and are so ideologically rigid (like that guy Keshab Sedhai, esq was against Deuba) against the king that you will never FIRST acknowledge the crazy elephant that's in the room (i..e. the Maoists and their murderous ways) and is destroying everything while you guys spend time constantly hounding the fox (i.e. the king) to protect the chickens (i.e. the political parties) in the name of Democracy.

It is my contention -- based on my information, judgments and knowledge -- that the fox can be caught (will take time), and the chickens can be protected (will take some time). But unless we do something soon about this crazy elephant, then we will lose both democracy and freedom for a long, long time.

पागलः- Of course !

Meantime, here is what most Nepalis say:

Source:

A nationwide Himalmedia Public Opinion Poll 2006 conducted two weeks ago shows the Nepali people reject extremism and have some definite ideas on how to restore peace.

A surprising 53.8 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with what they were doing.

Highlights:

• The Maoists and the monarchy are equally to blame for the present situation
• Direct rule by the king is not right
• Since the king has taken over, it’s up to him to fix things
• The monarchy should not be abolished, but the king shouldn't have absolute powers
• The king, the parties and the rebels should get together and find a solution through an interim government
• The Maoist insurgency is futile, and there is no military solution
• A general election is not possible unless peace is first restored

*********
And peace will NEVER be restored unless we STOP making heroes out of these Maoist leaders and start holding them accountable for their muderous actions just as we
should hold the king and the parties accountable for their actions too.

I enjoyed too Ashuji, thanks.

Infact, after reading what you knew about me at the first instant, I just wanted to request you to let me know If I had missed something about you too. Kura tetti ho.

We are just discussing for the sake of discussion, so there's no reason to feel better or not better. none of us have anything to gain or lose in sajha. Infact, I have a two litre cocacola bottle by my side :)

Everybody have their own interests. Some prefer to protect the crazy elephant, some the fox and some the chickens. With due respect to your qualifications, I thought you were qualified enough to protect or abandon them all on their own merit.

Finally, I submit to your judgement that we are doing no favour to our cause by staying in the west and criticizing the people, particularly those who sacrifice the oppurtunities of the west and work in the ground over there.

Poor me and people alike, we could do nothing there and could do nothing here. We just pass time writing big things about democracy in these internet forums. Now let me enjoy your updates from the ground, I hope I will get the most effective dose of political medicine from now onwards.

Have a good time ahead :)

Precisely.

Just as I have no problem with your being against the fox, you should also have no problem with my being against the crazy elephant for now.

The TRICKY thing to remember here is this:
Being against the crazy elephant does NOT automatically mean that one is for the fox or against the chicken.

Priorities differ.
Reasonable people disagree, with their own reasons, about what's important.

But this sort of public kurakani - far from being useless -- is AT the heart of any democratic system. I, for one, welcome and cherish this.

Some crazy action of mad monarchy:

Baburam and Prachanda are puppets of not only India... but originally puppets of King Gyane Bahadur Shah. It's pretty sad that these nepali ass*holes are doing whatever Gyane is telling them to do....

Hey whoever you are and whatever you think of Baburam Bhattrai,
you just don't deserve to call him a shitty person, okay buddy?
And not even a puppet of Gyane or India. You expect people to get convinced on words like those?
I am just going through the postings in sajha just to catch some laugh out and what I read, some nobody, calling words to the man who once was the president of the party who had around a dozen MPs from my country. Not only once, he does it twice as if he is challenging someone not to make him say that anymore, and freaking' he seems pleased with it.
Forget about sentiments, he deserves much more respect than anyother leaders at the moment.

Look Nepesahila, it's no wonder you label everybody who denouce your favorite Maoists as Royalists... that's nothing new, your writing here is same as actually Baburam/Prachande circulate statments attacking Gyane with words but nothing else.

But you guys are afraid to even contemplate that actually Baburam and Prachande are puppets of Gyane. You guys are only licking asses of Moiasts, but you guys forgot who's ass Baburam and Prachande are licking. It's the real people who are being terrorized and tormented by your Maoists and Your Maoists-supported Royalists.
