Dharane Kta you have a good point but let me tell you one thing. All this means nothing to maoists or anyone in Sajha because we Nepalese are so divided that in order for us to live and get along with each other it would take couple of generation if we are lucky. Believe me when I tell you this, the country you see as Nepal will be divided in ethnic line and will always have conflicts because our politics are not determined by the people but rather by India and other foreign country.

RAXAUL (EAST CHAMPARAN): Cocaine, heroin, smack, brown sugar are no longer the drugs for which one has to run from pillar to post.

In fact, they are readily available at Raxaul known as the gateway to Nepal.Located on the Indo-Nepal border, Raxaul has become infamous for drug trafficking even in the records of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCD) of India for the last 15 years.

Drugs are increasingly playing havoc with the lives of many poor and rich youths and, according to official report of police and health department, more than 100 persons, including girls, have died due to drug abuse during the last 10 years in the border area.

The majority of addicts are from Birganj town of Nepal neighbouring Raxaul.

About six drug lords are running the drug business in Raxaul town and selling drugs to the youths. Different outfits of ISI agencies and their leaders having taken shelter in Birganj (Nepal) and Kathmandu are running the drugs business through Indian agents in Raxaul for the last 10 years.

Recently, the Birganj police arrested one Pradeep Sah of Raxaul along with four youths and seized one pound heroin. Sah is a known fish supplier of Nepal and he used to export narcotics in fish bundles, according to police sources.

According to police sources, Raxaul is known transit point for drug smugglers. Intelligence sources said Dawood, the international drug lord, has extended patronage to drug trafficking at Raxaul.

Heroin, smack, cocaine shops are running openly in Laxmipur, Koeria Tola, Dumaria Tola, Nepali station, Mauza, Ahirwalia Tola, Prem Nagar, Sirisiya and Nakardai muhallas of Raxaul town where hundreds of addicts come to purchase these narcotics.

According to police records, six drug lords - Ambika Mukhiya, Sahdeo Sah, Ashok Birbahadur, Yasin Mian, Mir Hasan and P Giri - were killed in gang war at Raxaul during the last 10 years. They had amassed huge wealth in Raxaul through their "drug business".

A lecturer of local college said these narcotics come here from Barabanki every week through agents allegedly with the connivance of police.

A local NGO, "Little Flower", has started a de-addiction centre at Raxaul for poor addicts like rickshawpullers, students and labourers.
