i m student and my boyfren have got DV in nepal and he will be here shortly so what status will be of mine if i marry him like green card or same student do any one know about it

I would suggest you to visit the new and improved website of USCIS @ www.USCIS.gov and do some research. I am sure you will find your answer in no time.

(hint: They have new visa calagory for Spouse of GC holders)

As far as I know, If He got DV visa then ask your BF to send a letter saying that his status has been change, he got married..Actually, you guys need marrige certificate.If he send letter to KCC then you guys both can have GC from nepal but you have to go Nepal for the interview.But if he comes here in GC status then it will be same process, it may take 5 yrs to get green card and you have to maintain your status.

Once you get married you can file for PR right away.Its take like 4-5 years to get a green card.But as far i know once its get approved u don't need to maintain your status (takes1-2 years to get approved).

What I was trying to say is that the green card holder has to have had his/her green card for 4 years before the spouse can apply for his/her green card but he/she will only get his/her green card after the primary greencard holder had gotten his/her US Citizenship.

M sorry but its hard for u to get green card.. untill he is citizen of usa as he comes here u cant be GC. only choice u go bak to nepal and get married with him..
beside that i dont see any chances..

dhide : you are getting too many conflicting esponse. Spend $100.00 to consult an immigration lawyer to get a better advise. He can work with you to get you gc alongwith your bf in the same time. some attorney do not even charge anything for inital consultancy!

true: i am not aware gc holder has to wait for 4 years after geting gc to sponsor his/her spouse. when did that rule take effect? as far as i know gc holder can get married soon after getting card and file petion for his spouse for gc.

The spouce will not get her work permit until he has had the greencard for 4 years so what's the point? it's better not to apply and just try for ur own H1.

well i was told that when i marry the green card holder then i will get temporary visiting document as well work permit and conditionall green card which will be lifted after 2 years

if i went to nepal to get married and apply for visa and get rejected then can i come here with my current visa or not will they terminate this visa tooo
