today i m really feel shame to be a NEPALI , each and every year i heard bad news about ANA . i m going to write this for those stupid ass nepali who lives aboard and always messed up our clutural and reputed party like ANA . HEY already poor nepali guys (inculed me) ,1st you have to know about ur background and the position of your country in the whole world ,some parents sold their property to send these ass hole crap for study and that parents always sees only one dreams that their childrens gonna be good ppls and educated personalilty BUT i m talking about here in usa some ppls just study to be in status and always get drunk and messed up these kinds of party, they don"t know what they doing they also forget that day their moms went to the pawn shop to give all her ornaments for their flight tickets as well as budwiser.ok my bad nepalese friends if you have this kinds of problems please just steal a case of beer from your own gas station and get drunk and stay at home or fight with your roommates please please don"t go outside don"t get involv in this type of communial programmes like ANA , if you guys (gangsta) don"t agree with my view please buy a rope from walmart and tie a not on your neck and get suicide in your room .one things i want to suggest to the ANA organiser if that kind of problems happen just call the cop and hand over to them and publish those name who messed up the ANA. at last i get surprised to see the ANA pics why most of the nepali girls wearing a short type of dress and talking wine and beer glass in their hands remember girls you belongs to our nepali culture you are not a mexican sinorita , if you wanna show something why not you do like a MUNA SHRESTHA . OK ALL NEPALESE DO GOOD BE GOOD AND DON"T KILLS US BY SHAME . PASUPATINATH LE SABAILAI SADBUDDI DEUN . YOURS (MAYHUNA)

Been there and done there; nothing left to be proud of my origin.
I'm not trying to be a smart ass like others. Why have not their names been publised? Somebody in NY and Dallas will know who they were. Why not humiliate them here so their parents find about it in Nepal from someone who visits Sajha. ANA should put a clause in their policy and inform the attendees that if they mess up the party they not only have to face the law of US, their names will be be made public on their website (ANA and Sajha) and sent to Nepali newspaper. Let's all know who they're and stay away from them. They should be banned on the next convention. You can post their picture all over the hall, "Please if you see this man, come to the customer service immediately". HAHAHAH that should put some pressure on their behaviour.
If this is not a good idea, then the only thing left is ban the alcohol, which I think will be like changing our culture.

Well friends do you know any Nepali gathering ends without dance programme?
Bottle dance is one of the items that Nepalese always have to have at the middle or end of the programme.
PS:Those of you who does not know"Bottle Dance": it is a kind of dance where drunk Nepali start fight with hitting each other with wine/beer bottle or glasses which end the whole programme.
So don't feel shame,be proud of your culture.

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT ANA CONVENTION. totally agreed with everybody comments and idea. i think we should let them do everything they wanna do other than fight and if somebody is ready to fight then we sud have some sort of UFC. I MEAN TO SAY NFC (NEPALI FIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP). IT DOESNT MATTER WHETHER DRUNK OR NOT. IF SOMEBODY THINKS HE IS ULTIMATE FIGHTER THEN WHY DONT THAT PERSON COME TO THE STAGE AND ENTERTAIN US. BUT IF SOMEBODY IS COWARD AND WANNA FIGHT AT THE BACK DOOR THEN THAT PERSON SHOULD GO TO JAIL. I THINK EVERYBODY HAS SIGN THAT FORM BEFORE COMING TO THIS COUNTRY THAT HE OR SHE IS READY TO FOLLOW THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THIS COUNTRY.
I THINK EVERYBODY HAS THEIR OWN RIGHTS TO DRINK. SO WE ARE NOT ANYBODY WHO IS TEACHING THEM THEIR NORMS AND VALUES. THEY ARE DRINKING FROM THEIR OWN MONEY SO WHY DO WE CARE AND WE BOTHER? THATS THEIR MONEY AND LET THEM DOW HATEVER THEY WANNA DO WITH THEIR MONEY. I LUV TO SEE GALS WEARING SHORTS. THATS THEIR OWN BODY WHETHER THEY WANNA SHOW IT OR NOT. I THINK EVERYTHING IS GOING FINE OTHER THAN FIGHTING. GETTING DRUNK IS NOT A BAD THING ITSELF. BUT AFTER GETTING DRUNK AND GETTING INTO FIGHT IS BAD.
SO I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST EVERYBODY DO WHATEVER U WANNA DO WITHOUT DISTURBING ANY OTHER RIGHTS.
AT LAST ANA CONVENTION IS FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAS DONE SOMETHING AND NEEDS A PLATFORM TO SHOW OFF THEIR ACHIEVEMENT. I HAVENT DONE ANYTHING SO FAT THAT I CAN BE PROUD OF MYSELF THATS WHY I DIDNT ATTEND ANA CONVENTION THIS YEAR. however, it is not wise to be violent and fight.. but what is the cause of violence , why do people fight... here are my conclusion and this is what need to be corrected in Ana..

1) alcohol should be banned...
2) police should be hired, or bouncers to control such big crowd..
3) No old kickouts with bad records should be admitted... id should we used to avoid such losers...
4) No such events which creates such tensons, which divides people among states, neighborhoods, cults rather than uniting them under one identity ie, the identity of Nepalis in USA.. what's the point of organizing NE VS. MN, or CO VS MA.. it's pointless.. you don't represent the states of the United states, my gorkhay fellas....so quit this stupid misrepresentation that only creates sutpid tensons among us; divides and not unites.. dropit ..
5) quit whining and quit expecting what others to do.. express yourself , convey your points but don't expect others to do what you think they should do... this is the most important point.. we need to change our attitude.. we need to drop voilence... and drop such expectations.. okay, you're a nerd, you like going to school and getting good jobs, and braging about your house and a job.. but that might be meaning less for someone who loves to ride a motor bike and work at a local resturant.. it's different lifestyle.. just cuz someone is not living up to the expectation of the greedy Nepali crowd doesn't mean he's a loser.. it's a different lifestyle you arsewhole.... learn to appreciate the difference, do not compare and enjoy life and let others do the same....

Well, I agree with the original message in this topic. However, I want to add my thoughts about the culture aspect. Here most of us are trying to say that getting drunk and all is not in our culture. Well, getting drunk and fighting is not in any culture anywhere in the world but still people do it. Everyone knows it's not right but people still do it. It has nothing to do with culture.

And again, culture keeps changing continously. In Nepal, do we all still have the same culture from the previous generation? Just ask yourself. Nowadays, in Kathmandu, how many Lakhe dances can you see during the Nag Panchami season? If you were around twenty years ago there would be more than one Lakhe dance in the same tole - on the same street. Now the Nag Panchami Lakhe dance seems to be a rarity. Even deusi and bhailo is on the decline and whatever there is - is usually performed to collect donations. So what I am trying to say is that let's not crow about Nepalese people's culture in the usa while our culture is undergoing a drastic modernization within Nepal itself. (And it is a different story altogether that there are many regional communities that have had a much more liberal culture than that of the major ethnic groups like Bahun Chhettris and Newars.)

I have other perks about Nepalese communities in the US too but I will not go into that now. Right now it will suffice to say that I agree with the most of the poeple in this thread.
