AS she is a woman, she is the agent of change. In the American history, she will be the first woman president. This is how the one and only one HR Clinton is canvassing her electoral bid to White House and how it works all over the world. Women get priority to men.

There are 31 ministers in the government.  If I am not mistaken, there are 4 women ministers - one from UML (Sahana Pradhan), 2 from CPM (Pampha Bhusal and Hisila Yami) and one from NC (Sujata Koirala). From the statistics, where is the comparision between Sujata Koirala and Shekhar Koirala bla bla bla..........? Isn't Sujata as competent as other women leaders in NC? How do we know she is not competent? Isn't it the height of stereotyping? Haven't we seen how Bidhya Bhandari has shown her leadership skills after the death of Madan Bhandari; Sahana Pradhan after Puspalal? Why people say this and that I don't really understand. Can we expect anybody to be pristine and perfect? How about ourselves?

GP

I can understand why you are dissapointed with "rape" statement but I see no reason for you to get dissapointed with my acception of political parties being corrupt.

Again I ask you: Tell me one viable political party with clean records without corruption in Nepal ?

It seems like we Nepalese are so habituated with corruption in Nepal that we don’t bother to care how corrupt a person is who has been appointed as the minister of Nepal.

I am surprised to see some of sajha users, who I consider “intellectuals”, are writing in favor of Sujata’s nomination.

Let's pick then out any person from Nepali mass who has clear vision for the country and leadership skills and also is intellects as well as non corrupted. Probably we are expecting a person of this kind!!!!

Let's also think about how many developed countries in the world have leaders with such qualities.

GP, But at least this lady Sujata has been in active politics for the past 15-16 years. BP Putra Shasanka and Nona Putra Shekar just joined politics 3-4 years ago. And, they have not shown any leadership qualities either.

I agree with GP in all barring the corruption he labelled on Sujata. I am confused as to whether we are discussing about corruption or competency? If it is corruption, probably we need to lit the candle in the midday- may it be more or less! If it is competency, how are all those Koirala cronies coming in the picture?

Dear GP

First, Its not about Shasanka or Shekar - its about Nepal. Its not about Nepali Congress - its about Nepal. Please don't try to equate our great nation with Nepali Congress, they are not synonymous, Please.

Second, its good that Shasanka took care of the party cadres but did he do without any motive? Will he go and take care of people outside his partyfold (I am not talking about his eye's profession)? If he does/he has done then that's good. From what I have heard he is not helpful towards people who are not from Nepali Congress and he can be quite rude towards them.

Third, please don't equate Shashaka and Shekhar with the advisor's of the US Presidents. You want to compare Condi and Carl Rove with these two neophytes, who at the ripe old age of 50 and 60 respectively don't have vision of their own. Now don't tell me that Shashanka and Shekar are equivalent of Henry Kissinger.

Fourth, if they have been giving advice to Girija then they gave all sordid advice. Don't you see the result of their "great" advice- Nepal is a failed state.

I was thinking about Ram Chandra Poudel (RCP)- Peace Minister (kya) not the Ram Chandra of Treta yuga and wondering when RCP abandoned his wife Sita!! GP was all talking about Govinda Raj Joshi, Amar Raj Kaini and Ram Chandra Pokharel,  and coincidently RCP is also from Tanahun. Its my bad.

I don't want to continue with this Shashanka issue. I don't belong to the Nepali Congress and nor am I its sympathizer/supporter. Nor I survive on crumbs thrown by the Koiralas.

If it makes sense, please read it.......................

A great note for all to read. It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking. Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room ' s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and
families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. ? Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The  man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene. One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind ' s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days, weeks and months passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate,
the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you." Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half
the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can ' t buy.  "Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present ." The origin of this letter is unknown.

Hey GP,

I was also discussing about Sujata as a minister in that other thread. Later i started getting lame reasons from Shirish so i though of not participating anymore. Instead i posted this Triumph the Insult dog video of Spin Alley for Presidential Campaign before 2004 US election.
