Hi,
I am rephrasing my question. My cousin is coming from Nepal to Winona state university. I was wondering if any Nepali students attending there could brief me about the work opportunities available there. Also, any other useful information about a common student life of would be very helpful.

Thanks
Rg

Thanks. Can anyone else give me a little info on how hard it is to get apartments and what the prices are usually? also, if anyone can tell me what the job-finding situation there is, it would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Rg

Rg,

About job, compared to other universities, it is quite easy to find jobs. However, to get a job, he would need Social Secutiry card, and usually it is not that hard to get one in Winona State University depending when he arrives, coz in fall there are tons of student looking for job, so ideally it would be better if he comes easrly then he has higher chance of getting jobs (but not guarenteed). The pay is $8.40 before tax. In first semester he might get decent hours like around 10-15 (not guarenteed), coz then normally give preference to old students.

Is he comming alone or with friends? The price range of apartment starts at around $300+, but for 1 bdroom start around $450. I pay $310 rent + $25 cable/internet + $15-20 for electricity, around $350 per month total, which is average around here in winona.

I graduated from Winona, and am working in Winona right now. So if you have any questions, then you can email me directly at na_sabin@yahoo.co.uk
