Hello to all my virtual friends. I am going to do a research on what information the tourists are seeking to visit our country Nepal and what information are they lacking ? What information if provided the more number of tourists will increase every year ? Does volunteering opportunities like teaching may allure the tourists ? I don't know . I just wanna brainstorm what ideas can we come across so that tourists coming to Nepal will benifit and eventually Nepal is going to benefit. Please do participate and give your views. Every reply is highly appreciated. Thank you all.

You are right Damauli guy every place has its own value. But I am wandering if people across the globe who have once heard the name NEpal has known its value. How can we spread the values to them ? There are people who know Nepal is beautiful place and they want to visit. But they can't because of lack of information. When there is lack of information word of mouth plays a big role. SO if one tourists is deceived and he spreads bad word of mouth its very unlikely that people who know him will come back. So what can we do ? I mean reliable information of what type do they seek ? Just my view.

I am going to write a few things that i feel the tourist are missing. first of all there are no valid information on the internet about nepal. if you do some research on different sites.....the information are not identical. the internet is the best source of information for developed nations and sadly our country lacks in the same infrastructure. Nepal Tourism Board website provides some good info but the ministry of tourism and civil aviation is USELESS!!! one other big thing is...Hotel Association of Nepal HAN doesnt not even have a website to provide information about hotels in Nepal. if you want to find out a star rating of a hotel, some say its 3 and some say its a 4 star. so tourists dont know that if they are putting their money on the right hotel. to have more tourists in nepal the air route should be viable. we should have ample number of national flag carriers or adequate numbers of private airlines serving the routes. advertising hasnt been done in a good manner as well. people from NTB and ministry go with their wives to participate in seminars and exhibitions to different countries but this has no substantial gain to the tourism industry in nepal. i dunno about how the advertising is done in europe for nepal, but as far as north america, i have never seen NTB advertise in travel magazines or travel n tourism channels. "you never get a second chance to make a first impression", the airport in Nepal needs a lot of work-physically as well as from human resource point of view. i dont think volunteer teaching will increase the type of tourist that we need in nepal. in nepal we need tourists that can spend money who have disposable income. we get a lot of tourists in nepal from israel that are simply backpackers and stay in the cheapest accommodation possible which doesnt not help much. of course we need those kind of people as well but rather than focusing on quantity for visit nepal 2011 we need to focus on quality tourists. tourism is at the bottom of the pit right now in nepal and we are in dire need of quality spenders. man i could go on and on on this tourism thing......really frustrated with the situation in nepal........and we all know well that the source of this problem is ........yes you guessed it right my friend.....POLITICS!!! so anjeep, what makes you do this research??? are you a hospitality student??? what level of study u doin n where??....i just wish the situation of tourism in nepal was like that in 1998...i would leave everything here and go the the country where my heart is....

Hey guies thanks for participating. @ kaji saheb : I am doing this research for my particular interest. I just wanted to find out what I can do from my side so that I could feed the information regarding Nepal to the tourists coming to Nepal . Yeah tourism is really at the bottom of the pit. So I guess we need to work out or otherwise the sentence "Nepal is a tourism destination for the people all around the world " will be the history.

In my prospective, The first and the foremost thing they are lacking is ; "On the information of existance of such country NEPAL in the globe". When somebody asks you where are you from? simply i am from NEPAL doen't make any sense to them. We need to explain them quiete briefly saying "there does exists a tinycountry called NEPAL which is very beautiful and lies between India and China". They do know the highest peak of the world, MT. EVEREST, but don't know Nepal. My point of telling this is if you know the food then only you will go and taste it, untill and unless you know you damn care it.

Here is what the rest of the world thinks about Nepal now , do u think they need to know more ? Travel Advisory by Govt of Australia The World Health Organisation (WHO) has confirmed cases of H1N1 Influenza 09 in a number of countries throughout the world, including Nepal. For a list of these countries, visit the WHO website. For further information and advice to Australians, including on possible quarantine measures overseas, see our travel bulletin on H1N1 Influenza 09. We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in Nepal due to the uncertain political and security situation. Pay close attention to your security at all times and monitor the media and other local sources for information about possible new safety or security risks. The resignation of the Prime Minister of Nepal on 4 May 2009 has increased political tensions and the security situation remains unpredictable. Political rallies in many parts of Nepal have resulted in outbreaks of violence and the detonation of explosive devices. You are strongly urged to avoid demonstrations, political rallies and large gatherings throughout Nepal as they may turn violent. Demonstrations and bandhs (strikes) occur without notice and can cause major traffic disruptions and shut down all public transport. Shortages of essential supplies (food, water, fuel, gas and kerosene for cooking) can occur with limited notice. Black out (or load shedding) periods can have a significant impact on services, including in major tourist destinations. Before travelling, check that your tour operator or hotel will be able to provide an acceptable level of service and security. Extortionists continue to approach trekkers and climbers demanding 'donations' or 'taxes'. Victims have been assaulted, detained or threatened with violence until they pay. Excerpts of Travel Advisory to citizens of USA - Travel Warning remains in effect because the Department of State continues to be concerned about the security situation in Nepal. Despite the April 2008 elections, various groups aiming to advance political agendas continue to commit extortions, abductions and killings.
- In the southern Terai plains, more than 40 armed groups, some in pursuit of independence or autonomy and others composed mainly of opportunistic criminal elements, piggybacked on a popular uprising in 2007. Since 2008, competing factions in the Terai clashed with the Maoists, hill-origin Nepalese, police, and each other, exacerbating unrest in the southern Terai plains since 2008. These clashes instigated numerous strikes, demonstrations, and Indo-Nepal border closures.
- Americans traveling to Nepal should be aware of the potential for large or violent demonstrations. Frequently, demonstrators burn vehicles, throw rocks at passing motorists, and burn tires to block traffic.
- Bandhs in the Terai region of Nepal also occur and have been known to last for several weeks, causing acute shortages of daily food supplies and bringing vehicular traffic to a complete halt. Individuals have been reported kidnapped or killed for not complying with the bandhs in the region.
Travel Advisory to British Citizens -
Political tensions in Nepal remain high. In light of this, you should avoid large gatherings and demonstrations. Bandhs (shutdowns), rallies and demonstrations can cause widespread disruption and are often called at short notice, leaving transport severely disrupted and blocking roads and major highways. -
A (H1N1) - Swine Flu has been confirmed in Nepal. -
There is a general threat from terrorism. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. See the Terrorism section of this advice for more details. -
The wider security situation in Nepal remains subject to change due to the political volatility in the country. Since March, there has been a wave of demonstrations and strikes, at times violent, in the Terai and Eastern region of Nepal. and the list goes on ..........
