Why was it denied? I thought every student is eligible for it and is taken for granted. Did you use part of it before completing your study?

Talk to the ISA as soon as possible. Don't panic but you really need to act soon. Take all copies of your application/documents to ISA to make sure things are right.

Don't panic and keep it cool. Talk to your International student advisors and have them make an inquiry on your behalf. OPT for graduating seniors is almost a given. I'm guessing your documentation was incomplete or something of that sort.
Good luck.

Like Quagmire said, Go to international student office (ISO) and ask them. Did not they process if for you. I think in most schools ISO handles this. If you have not applied for OPT before and used it, you are definitley eligible for it. Most likely you have missed some documents to send or they were lost during processing. I have never heard of OPT declined before. I think once it is submitted again you will be in status during processing time.

If something is missing or done in a wrong way, THE USCIS will send your application back stating the ERROR made on the application but will not reject any application just because of incomplete documentation. For eg. When I applied it back in 2007, the first time I had applied, they sent back my application because the amount I put on the Check, "4" looked like a "9". Then I sent them the corrected one and I got approved.

All right, Here u go hotice,
My application for an OPT was denied. How can I appeal?
If your application for an EAD is denied, you will receive a letter that will explain the reasons for the denial. You will not be allowed to appeal a negative decision to a higher authority. However, you may submit a motion to reopen or a motion to reconsider with the office that made the unfavorable decision. By filing these motions, you may ask the office to reexamine or reconsider their decision. A motion to reopenmust state new facts that are to be provided in the reopened proceeding and must be accompanied by affidavits or other documentary evidence. A motion to reconsider must establish that the decision was based on an incorrect application of law or policy, and further establish that the decision was incorrect based on the evidence in the file at the time the decision was made.
i recommed to make sure while u applying coz USCIS ppl will do in clear step by step process validation ..
1.Check your CIP code on I-20 (3rd page)with STEM eligible codes on http://ice.gov/sevis
2.make sure your E-verify number is 6 digit, check two times with ur employer.
3.Before your current expiration. (if u got decession approval/denial before u r current expiration then u will have chance to do sthg, other wise even god cant help us in this freaking USCIS systems whcih exclusively built to [Disallowed String for - bad word] us.)
school/employer they dont know what the [Disallowed String for - bad word] they r doing ,if they did sthg wrong like typo mistake our time going to spoil.
if u missed any thing funny like transcripts or signing on I20/check or failed to send the new xerox copy of I-20 which is not more than 30 days old ...u will be in extreme danger .No doubt abt it .

i had my opt denied too last year, and i was a graduating senior....ur and my case might be similar. i went back to my advisor's office and enrolled for classes right away, even though they were 3 undergrad classes. i later changed them to grad courses and i transferred to another school after one semester..tantai khallas tespachi...tara they asked for my cpt papers before they said the application was cancelled~! like quagmire said..u can contest if you like! but talking to ur advisor is the best way to go!
