ITS MY OPINION. ----Yes, Buddha is the 9th Avatar of Lord Vishnu. And Buddha was born in Nepal. But if you look at those all  8 Avatars, they were in India. There might a possibility Buddha is an Indian but we consider him Nepali because of the Geographic changes. I HOPE WE DON'T HAVE TO DISPUTE FOR THE 10TH AVATAR. 

 You might come up with a "grantha" in Hindu mythology one day. Best wishes for the analysis!

Don't mix mythology with real history.
Buddha was a real person. It is sad to see how little educated our
younger generations are with facts Vs fictions.

If this post is meant to be a joke, then it's a bad joke. If it is to pose a genuine inquiry, then I pity the thread starter's dearth of knowledge. Yes, mythology cannot be regarded as history in whole. That's one. Second -  India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and all other south asian countries of this era were together called "Bharat Barsha" back then which was essentially a collection of small states like Hastinapur, Madra, Panchal etc during the Mahabharat era with more unexplored and undiscovered territories before then.

Buddha right after he was born had walked 7 steps and where ever he walked lotus flower emerged...dont u think there is a little bit of mythology there??

Other avatars are mythological characters..thats debatable too
there is evidence of Mahabharata and Ramayana happening.....may be they really lived +/- the magical powers...

I think overall religion is man made system which is a mix bag of convenience, coping mechanism and discipline. So does it matter where who was born and lets just say
PPl who reside in the south east asia in the planet  Earth, a tiny spot in the universe believe that buddha was born there somewhere but noone can pinpoint where exactly .... remember your perception is your reality...

The chances of Buddha being a real person historically (not involving religion) is very high compared to Shiva. Albeight, the lotus thing is a bit bit too much, I myself do not beleive that crap. Its not a mixture of Mythology and History. Our religion clearly states that there are 10 Avatars. If 9th Avatar is a History and remaining 8 are Mythology as someone has said up there,THEN we have to go back and make an adjustment in our religion book. This assumption creates more chaos.
