Hi Nepalis friends,

I was trying to get the exact latitude and longitude of Mt Everest on some popular internet maps. I was surprised to see that Mt Everest actually lies in China in MSN map and in Google Map it's right on the border between China and Nepal.

Is Mt Everest shifting towards North ?

I also found a weblog which has shown clearly on one page and also has links to both maps

Are you also surprised to see this or is it just me who didn't know what country Mt Everest was in.

 

 

 

Nothing new. And I am not surprised to hear that. Most of our valuable natural resources are owned by Indian and China. People like you and me just sits down on Internet and complain about it.  But very next day, we don't even remember what we had discussed on Sajha. Enjoy your New Year weekend.

Summit lies in : Nepal

- There were times when China claimed Mt Everest belongs to them, but we provided them with the document proving it belonged to us (some Tax document from villagers paying tax to Nepal Govt.)

(Later China Accepted, that Mt Everest belongs to both the nation not just China), but the confusion of Summit was later clarified by President Mao, saying it belongs to Nepal (during BP Koirala's visit to China)

if you search for Everest in bing, on the right hand botton side of the screen, you will see "Tell us what you think" link.

Instead of complaining what you feel in Sajha, it would make more sense to click on that link and making a formal complain in a "civilized language."

I agree with SIS. What makes difference if it is in Nepal or China? I have even seen that some Indians claim Everest is in India. It does not yield anything in terms of Nepal's progress in democratic systems and fair administration.

As many tourist had the info`s , to see Shiva avatarian at Mount Kailash , Manas Sarovar And Gouri Kund  they had to begin from Nepal or Tibet with, hence to be there as a pilgrims nowadays a limited quotas and numbers of people only at once will be allow to be there  by the China enforcement at their borders. All this beaurocracy makes a strong impressions in general that Everest mountain is in China....

According to Google map, Buddha was also born in Uttar Pradesh India!
